I changed my username to "Solidus" :lol. By the way, are any of you guys up for a game of Team Fortress 2 on Friday or Saturday?

GTX 670 is better than GTX 580

:lol

Really? It is?

And you're right it is but I'm thinking that dual SLI GTX 580s might be comparable to a single GTX 670. My motherboard is SLI ready. I'm doing the research right now.

And obviously getting another GTX 580 is cheaper (probably used on eBay) than buying a $400 GTX 670.

Ah, I didn't read it clearly. Dual GTX 580's would be faster than a single GTX 670, but 1 vs 1 the GTX 670 is faster.

It also depends on what you're wanting to do--just games the GTX 670 has great performance, some stuff actually performs better on a GTX 580, in terms of non-gaming graphical stuff.

Mostly gaming. Yeah, I agree; one to one, the 670 will dominate.

Thinking about upgrading my card from a GTX560 TI OC to either a GTX660/660 TI OC (possible SLI future upgrade) or a 670 PE OC.

Was just wondering. Is it worth it to get a GTX 670 or to get another GTX 580 to go dual SLI?

580 SLI is loud!

I sold my 2 580s and bought a 680 instead. Couldn't be happier.
Plus, I can OC it quite a bit and get almost the same kind of performance as my 580 sli

For the GTX 660 consideration there's a $100 difference between the 660 and 660 TI but not a huge gap in performance. If you got the money, I'd go for a 670. :(

Do you have a power supply that can handle the load of running those two cards in SLI? Seen some 580 SLI benchmarks that draw 750+ watts under load.

You bring up a good point. I have to take that into consideration.

Cause if I have to buy a new PSU to support that dual SLI 580 setup then it probably wouldn't be worth it ...

You'll also have to think about your electric bill. I'm interested in SLI, but I'll most likely do it with a few mid-ranged graphics cards.

Not related to the discussion at hand, but picked up Gears of War for PC and already had the wired 360 controller, so can't wait to check it out and see if there is a difference.....

True. But overall, don't the high-end graphics cards need a hefty PSU?

Yes not really. Often the newer cards, use less power, give off less heat, as they continue to shrink down the chips etc.

Like my GTX590 (dual gpu card) is a fricken power hog, compared to the GTX 680, and maybe even the new TITAN.
And runs hot as hell too lol
