Yeah, my original plan was to build it myself but this actually seems to work out cheaper. So why pay more to do more work myself? They must get them in bulk, especially after seeing the quantity of custom built PCs on ebay at the moment. I'll downgrade to a smaller PSU and get a BD drive too, that's the changes I'll be making so far anyway.

The stock coolers are designed for general use, if you're going to do some serious computing then you'd want to replace it anyway. That's why the high-end processors don't come with coolers.

Funny this conversation comes up, I was reading that Shadow of Mordor really taxes your system (don't know if that's true or not), but I started using some system monitoring software and saw that it was pushing my CPU up to 78 °C, and I've been playing it pretty frequently for the last few days. So, I stopped playing that and started up Skyrim and it got up to 82 °C! And I've been playing it for months, yikes!! That's on an i5-4690 with stock cooler. So, I just ordered the Noctua NH-D14 last night, and it should be here by the end of the week. . . .and now I'm scared to play any games.

Funny this conversation comes up, I was reading that Shadow of Mordor really taxes your system (don't know if that's true or not), but I started using some system monitoring software and saw that it was pushing my CPU up to 78 °C, and I've been playing it pretty frequently for the last few days. I just did some mild overclocking on my my i5 3570K and the temps remain stable as if nothing happened . In addition, the hottest core doesn't go beyond 51 degrees Celsius at full load. I have it at 3.8 GHz on all of the cores at the moment, but I see if I can bump it up to 4.2 GHz.

Depends on much he increases it by and depending on the motherboard. You can usually do some minor overclocking without increasing the voltage.

Without. I'm using this motherboard:

MSI Z77A-G45 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

I might do a little tinkering with the voltage, but I'll need to research it a bit more.

I have a question. For you guys with SSDs, did you move your browser's Internet cache folder off of your SSD and unto a HDD instead? And given how small cache writes can typically be, is it even worth it?

If your worried about the size of the cache... You could try CCleaner... a great program I wouldnt do without

Well, it's not so much as the size of the cache, but the amount of re-writes that generally wear on a SSD. I've been reading mixed thoughts on it. Some people claim that cache filles will wear away a SSD in time, and they recommend sending the cache folders to a HDD or using RAM cache. While others say that cache wear is inconsequential, and it's best to leave the cache on the SSD so you can enjoy faster browser speeds.

I just really don't want the headache of going through all the trouble of rearranging my files like that, if it's not really worth it .

hmmm.. I guess if your planning to use the SSD for 2+ years, then it would be a good idea long term
I believe certain SSD's come with software that prevents degradation of the drive my that kind of caching... mine certainly does(Samsung EVO 840)

Well, I've read that with proper maintenance, SSDs could last longer than HDDs because they have any moving parts. You definitely need to limit the amount of writes on it, and disable sons Windows features to make better use of them. Here's an article I found:
