To fix it, close iTunes and launch "Disk Utility" found in Macintosh HD /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility

Then click "Repair Disk Permissions". If that doesn't do it, then it's probably a graphics driver problem which Apple would need to patch.

Thanks for that. I may reference back to that. But right now my plan is to delete iTunes and all my music from the Mac. Download iTunes from the net and start dragging my music in from my external drive, and let go of the idea of preserving playlists. I'll just have to start over.

Why does your iTunes say "iTunes 1" and "iTunes 2" in those photos?

Due to the 3 failed attempts to create a iTunes library with my old playlists.

btw - next time, instead of taking a photo, you can hit command+shift+3 to take a screen shot, or command+shift+4 to bring up crosshairs to take a shot of a specific section of your screen.

:hi5: Dude that's awesome! I have always wondered how people did that! :rock

Thought you might like that. ;)

I spent many hours with tech support trying to fix the problem with iTunes. Including a re-download of iTunes, and uploading the OS twice - one of which was a complete reformatting. The problem kept coming back. I suspect that this is why it was a refurb. It's not an easy problem to catch so it may have slipped through. It is a very minor problem (dwarfed by the colossal problems I had been having with my Windows machine), and supposedly only cosmetic, but I don't know that it isn't a sign of something worse that could develop. Plus, for this money I don't even want "cosmetic" problems.

Anyway, sending it back toady. Will probably buy a brand new 27" iMac from the local Apple store. Sorry Ski.

go for new.
I avoid refurbs in any and all instances.

For those of you who don't know what problem I'm referring to. Here is what the 'no album art' icon in iTunes would look like:

It would come and go, and it varied in appearance. Quite infuriating.

Maybe your computers don't like your taste in music? :dunno

nope. the complete opposite. THey know how to use their software and PC's. THey came in with a lot of experience.

Were those computers new? Seems like the more programs or apps running on Windows, the more problems you're gonna have.

Really? My brother was thinking about buying a refurb labtop for his daughter?

The rep that I talked to said that a referb is not any more likely to have problems than new. :dunno

It would save me $250 if I took another gamble on a refurb...

I know exactly which figure I would use that $250 to pay for to.

Have both. Both have their positives mainly employed for AutoCAD. Run Windows 7 on Parrells on the Mac which is great especially with a 27" screen.

Mac, but dual booting with windows for my wifes work. Looks better, software is more integrated with the hardware and so needs less tinkering to get it to work the way I want. Works better with iPods, iPhones and iPads.
Doesn't cost any more than a pc in the long run as it will hold it's resale value better.
