I thought of him as a bit psychotic more than anything. Jack's funny, Barbossa, even when he's funny, is on the frightening side of funny.

I can agree with both statements, but he's still not the most serious character either. Compare him to Norrington or one of the other guys, you could stick them in a serious movie from that time period and they'd still work, put Barbossa in one and I think he'd stick out a bit. I'd like to see Blackbeard as a more realistic character.

That didn't stop Barbossa. Frankly if they bring anyone dead back, I want it to be Davy Jones. Davy Jones vs Blackbeard would just be epic

I would love to see the return of Jones as well, one of the coolest looking villians around, but most likely if he was in it, would be human form.

A funny remark here and there can't hurt IMO. Best would be if they made him like Al Swearengen in Deadwood, just without all the swearing

The thing is that Davy Jones would have no "power", all of that transferred to Will when he became Captain of the Flying Dutchman. As I understand it Blackbeard himself has a bit of supernatural to him. Not to mention Davy Jones at this point would have no boat, or crew, or even really anything more than being mother ____ing Bill Nighy...which in itself is quite awesome.

Most likely although I remember reading that the back and forth, who is dead, who isn't or trying to stop it, etc was one of the things that caused the third to be so disregarded because it was difficult to follow. I would imagine that the connections to the first trilogy will be spoken only and not too much shown here but Disney has been quoted in saying they'd love another trilogy out of Jack Sparrow so who knows for the next if this does well.

Agreed. Bill Nighy is fantastic no matter what he is playing. I just want to see him back in Pirates. Fishy or not. It fact, it would be kinda cool to have him normal and see the differences. I know he had that 20 second moment in AWE, but he didn't really do much in human form.

I would enjoy seeing a pirate Davy in human form. I don't think this is the movie for it. I think the more distance between this film and the last two the better; however, maybe the next one, if there is a next one... They'll need a good reason for him to be back.
Oh, there will be a next one. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a full second trilogy. Johnny loves being Jack and as long as these make money and he is still on board, they'll keep making them.

That's what it takes to keep me interested in the series, while the other characters are cool too, it's about Johnny as Cap Jack, if he's not on board, I'm not too interested.
Agreed. And since Jack is the only character Depp has ever reprised and now hes done it 3 times, I don't think getting him back will be an issue if they got a good story. He's all about the experience of making the movie and having fun doing that, so as long as Jack has a nice juicy part, he'll be in. Who knows, maybe they already contracted him for another 3 films after AWE?
