If this movie is good there will be a 5th one and I'll be excited about it, but if it turns out more like AWE, I don't think people will be down for a fifth. Personally, I loved AWE so I'd still be excited.

Despite some fan reaction, I think AWE was still financially successful. I think more than anything, they just need to stay away from making the plot twists too complex. It took me a second viewing of AWE to appareciate, the first time left me pretty confused about what was happening, there was so much and you get so busy trying to keep up, you miss little clues and such. The twists and turns in Curse and DMC were simpler.

I agree! I really found it to be quite messy when I first saw it. Judging by the trailer though, I'm getting more of a Curse vibe, which is very good IMO! :rock

I just finished watching Dead Man's Chest again. I love the POTC movies and can't wait for this one. :rock

Yeah, it was financially successful, but no one knew it wouldn't be as good as the last two when they were buying tickets. If this one doesn't get good reviews I can see people skipping it if they didn't like the last. But what do I know?

Personally I enjoyed AWE the first time I watched it. The plot twists were confusing, but I figured, "They're pirates, they all have their own motive, and they're willing to sell each other out for it. Who cares exactly what's going on."

But that has no real bearing on whether another film gets made. Especially with Disney. Look at Spider-Man 3, it was amazingly financially successful making way more than it was even budgeted which was a ridiculous amount to begin with and yet the plug was pulled from even giving the team a shot at redemption. Especially with Disney, they want fan buy in because it equals merchandising which is where Disney loves to be. Prince of Persia was financially successful but we've heard nothing of even thoughts to a sequel due to fan "mehness" and Tron: Legacy which hasn't been domestically successful to their projections or even analyst projections is being greenlit for another based solely on merchandising sales and a weird cult style following which as sprung.

This film has to do two things, do great domestically and sell a lot of ____. Then we'll see a fifth without question. Without that it's up in the air especially with the mouse.

I loved AWE, I only just found out 3 weeks ago about the new film which is really bad for me because I am considered a huge fan of the franchise in my social circle and many knew about it before me. I would have preferred Salma Hayek over Penelope Cruz but Cruz is a great actress nontheless. Hot Toys is already at work on the new figures. A Cruz figure and Blackbeard will be interesting. Hot Toys did such an amazing job with this license the first time around I'm so ready for more ! Here's a shot I took of my HT Jack Sparrow, one of their best head sculpts ever thanks to Yulli !

Those are quite good looking. I almost would have guessed NECA at first. I hope these are in scale with NECA's work because a Gibbs has been sorely missed.

And I always love it when actors see their action figures, so that last shot is great :D
