On a related, sad note, Diamond Select just cancelled production of their Jack Sparrow and Barbossa figures out of the blue, perhaps the reception in the US is being felt insufficient, seems overseas is carrying it.

Yeah, they Walmart/Toys R Us level toys are extremely kid focused this time around, DST was an affordable option for adults. What's weird is they fairly recently announced Jack and Barbossa including pieces to build a Black Pearl wheel diorama, I added Barbossa on preorder just for that so I could display a Jack at the wheel since I don't have DX06 and DX15 doesn't include a wheel.

I fear this may be the final voyage of Captain Sparrow and the Pirates franchise as we know it, with maybe something new in 10 years when they think Pirates may be popular again.

I both love and hate that post credits scene in Dead Men Tell No Tales - love it because you-know-who is back, but at the same time hate it because it will really bum me out if they don't do a sixth installment.

Yeah I think this one petered out as they say in the US- not good. Overall the franchise is done I believe- too bad but they went out on a good last film!

Just because they didn't make as much money in the US as they did overseas doesn't mean they won't make another one. They've already earned triple what the movie cost to make.

If they do make another one, hopefully it won't take so long this time.

I can't not disagree with this

gonna try and sneak away to this again this weekend, have to see it at least once more on the big screen. this has been the movie for the summer for me. so much fun.

I haven't listened yet, but I'm glad to hear it! I really enjoyed it during the flick.

Do you know if there is a visual guide out for this flick like previous POTC's?

It's really good, the new stuff and the way the old stuff was used. I'm waiting for the recording sessions to get posted somewhere so I can have the full score. Treasure is a great track.

Although I find “At World’s End” to be the best of the POTC soundtracks. There are selections in there that feel like a “single”!!

Soundtracks require patience. Patience comes form the love of a particular movie/franchise. Its only through repeat listening that you notice the different themes from the movie (i.e. Salazar). When I first purchased the soundtrack I didn’t catch anything special, yes the Pirates theme was there but not much else. After few listens you mind will notice and recognize the music….its at this point where you start to appreciate the soundtrack. Put it away and revisit it after a week and BOOM!!! You love it!!

Watching a movie in theatres (i.e.. Rogue One) then go out and purchase the soundtrack. Listen to it on/off until the blu ray is released. Once you star the movie the soundtrack is a equal member of your viewing experience as you are “well versed” in the music as well.

I own all the previous soundtracks and look forward to eventually adding this one to my collection. While I love a few specific tracks from each ST (Davy Jones theme, The kraken, the final battle from at worlds end) I think, oddly enough, On Stranger Tides is my all around favorite. I love almost every track. I thought Rodrigo y Gabriel's contribution to it was really awesome.

Agreed OST is a great soundtrack......I wish I could play guitar (sounds amazing)

No not sure. But looking forward to the Blu ray release later this year
Hopefully sooner than later. :lol

Just listened to Treasure, it is a great track. Making me want to see this even more!

I think DMC is my favorite of the 5.

OST is the most overall enjoyable score from start to finish because it heavily uses Jack-centric music from the past films because he's so prominent in the film. Some of the other scores lose me a bit at times with some of the themes for the new worlds, but overall, I love the whole body of Pirates music. Curse is probably the score I'd pick to listen to from start to finish if given one choice.

I have the recording sessions for all 4 of the first films, waiting for 5, you lose so much with the short, commercial albums.
