Every movie is a "rip off" of something else. Ex avatar is pocahontas

every movie copies other movies,
but those two pics is like, more of a rip off, like clear. that monster movie from the 80s has almost the same basic plot, of course they changed everything, but if you describe the basic plot you could be talking about either movie:
"Kid meets monster they are not afraid of, becomes friends with them, and goes to the monster world, at the end the evil monster is defeated and the kid and the monster friend say goodbye" I dont know any other movie that is that close to monsters inc,
same with Cars and Doc hollywood, is the same exact story,

avatar IS Pocahontas in Space, you are just making my point right :rotfl

Saw Brave today and expected to like it a lot - I love Scottish history and Celtic music and Pixar. The film looked gorgeous, the performances were grand and the 3D okay. I'm also glad that the trailers didn't give away the main plot point so I went in not knowing the thrust of the film.

It's a strong entry in the Pixar library - I'd equate it with Finding Nemo on my scale. But Nemo is very, very low comparatively for me. The film has a very strong, but very simple theme. There's some great humor with the visiting clansmen, but the jokes are repeated and tend to get old. Unlike the greatest Pixar movies such as Toy Story 2, The Incredibles and Wall-E, this film kind of felt like a kids movie - despite being incredibly scary at times.

I liked the film a lot - the worst Pixar is still better than most other movies - but I wanted it to be a LOT better.

Hadn't really planned to see this but decided the other day what the heck. I'm really glad I did. The story, message, acting, graphics, 3D, etc all were just really really good. I would totally suggest anyone to go see this.

Wasn't bad, I'd say it's the least of the good Pixar movies, so Cars and Cars 2 are still much lower.

The Dolby Atmos thing is pretty cool. All the speakers are specially calibrated, and now there's speakers in the ceiling. And so each speaker has it's own track generated from the system and so sounds can actually move around you by going from speaker to speaker rather than just going front to back or side to side. They could have taken more advantage of it for this movie though.

Saw the movie. I'd give it a 6/10 I don't know it seemed like it had potential at the beginning but then takes this really cliche turn and becomes very small. I thought it was like some epic but it wasn't . It reminded me of brother bear and I didn't care for that movie at all. The music was very good tho. Meh I guess the movie wasn't for me.

I'm not slamming Pixar because I do like some of theory movies a lot, but I have no idea why people act like everything they release is on par with The Godfather.

Cartoon kids movies are only so good folks

probably because they have a great track record and even their worst movies are pretty decent watches. They're definitely more consistent than most studios.

Cute movie, but it invites a lot of comparisons with two other films: Tangled and How to Train your Dragon. Neither of those films hold up on a technical achievement level to this film, but I enjoyed them both more than Brave for their humor and characters - especially Tangled.

Brave is amazing to look at, and it is a decent film. It just feels like a story I've seen before. I didn't dislike it. I just can't be terribly excited by it either.

I dont like up, the story was nice and the beginning made half the theater cry,but the movie to me is boring and not great like other Pixar movies, I know people love up which makes me question my sanity because i really didn't like it, I Saw it twice and i dont want to ever see it again,

It all comes down to personal preference. The guy from the Slashfilm article considers Ratatouille to be one of the worst Pixar movies, but it's one of my favorites.

I love Ratatouille, is really sweet and funny and looks great, i love the story and i love the characters,
the only Pixar movies I hate is Cars, Cars 2 and Up,

Yeah, I think that article is just really really off the mark. Brave IMO is one of their best films in a long time. It would be in my personal top five from Pixar for sure.

I haven't seen Brave, nor do I care to. It looks extremely underwhelming. I never saw Ratatouille, either, because it looked so dreadful. My parents, normally big Pixar fans, saw it and hated it, so I have never put forth any effort into seeing it. I've seen bits and pieces of Cars, and yeesh, it's another one of those "What were they thinking?" movies.

My Top 5 would be:

1. Toy Story 1, 2, 3
2. Up
3. Wall-E
4. A Bug's Life
5. Finding Nemo

Oh, you HAVE to see 'Ratatouille.' It's one of those you need to judge for yourself because it's such a unique story. It's arguably Pixar's most underrated. I really enjoyed it.

My biggest criticism of Brave was that it patronised it's audience. The characters were under developed and the story fed to us like we were toddlers. The second half of the movie dragged on, and provided little content in the way of story. It was all very average in the end, which is dissapointing.

Nevertheless, the first half was solid laughs and great fun, and don't forget the amazing visuals.

Pixar need to move away from sequels (Monsters University) and retellings of classic tales (Brave), and come up with something entirely original (Up, Wall-E). That's where we see them at their best
