I really like Up as well, especially the opening scene. However, if I had to list my top 5 Pixar films it'd probably be Toy Story, Toy Story 3, The Incredibles, Wall-E, and Ratatouille.
We share similar taste only I'd drop Wall-E and just have a top 4. Both the second halves of UP and Wall-E lessened the movies.

The first ten minutes of UP were great, the rest average.

Saw Brave last night and the wife agreed it was very bland.

Saw Brave this weekend and whilst I really enjoyed it, I do feel that it was lacking a certain charm that 'Tangled' and 'How to Train Your Dragon' did have.

Still, I was very pleased with the animation (gorgeous), the soundtrack (loved it), the strong female heroine and the mother-daughter story between Merida and Elinor.

I think one of the problems with this movie is that
there is no real conflict. There was no real outside danger in the movie like a villain threatening to destroy the kingdom or anything like that. So you never got the sense that Merida was in serious danger.

Judging from the trailer, I thought that after making her wish, Merida was gonna go on a long quest-like journey to restore order in the kingdom. But that never happened. All the scenes of her traveling were really from the first 5-10 min of the movie. She didn't really go anywhere.

She still had to be BRAVE to deal with everything, Brave to admit her mistakes, brave to deal with herself and her decisions, and brave to stand up for what she believes as far as the marriage. And besides, if she went on some epic quest, it would be no different then every other movie out there. I think people are really missing the point of this movie and it's focus on a mother/daughter relationship

:slap:dunno

I know that was the main theme of the movie and like I said in my previous comment, I enjoyed the mother/daughter relationship a lot. But I can see why other people might not like it 'cause they expected it to be just like any other adventure movie.
