Were not the cracks on rhino due to a molding issue? I doubt it has anything to do with the fiber glass itself, which again is stronger than polystone.

I think for collectors the root of the problem is not that the statue is hollow, it's that the quality vs price is gradually getting wider.

If SS are to save money via material, that should reflect in the price, yet collectors are paying more than ever.

So basically the scenario looks like this -

1) SS spend less money producing a statue and their audience is getting bigger.

2) Consumers pay more for a statue than they ever have before.

It's no wonder people feel ripped off. When a company can produce nearly 10,000 batman statue's......well......

The hobby has went from specialised to average Joe.

It turns out it's not just us geeks that like comic books...... :lol

You're right on every count sir.

I'm not a geek and I like these sculpts.

Believe it or not heavy solid statues are actually more easily damaged during shipping because 1) most shipper will just drop them instead of putting it down as they weigh so much 2) when a heavy statue moves within the styrofoam during shipping it will cause much more strain on the structure or anything that supports it like an extended arm etc It's no different than why hot toy dolls rarely get damaged during shipping.

I am all for quality, but Hulk maquette did not feel less quality because it weighs less people keep saying that without any reason. Rhino everyone have their opinion I personally have no issues and think those tiny "crack" are just part of the skin. But the bottom line is lighter statues do not degrade quality, if it did I will be the first in line opposing it.

I hate,to tell you this man but if you look at the videos of UPS tossing around boxes that say "fragile" weight has nothing to do with it., its a service issue. As for everything else, like I said, I just want well put together. Take Joker for instance. He's hollow but he feels sturdy. He's only 10 pounds but well put together and for my money thats all I'm asking for.

And yet Rhino is probably considerably sturdier than joker.

if you have a small ***** you shouldnt be allowed to buy this statue IMO.

After the first sentence you are completely :slap

Not sure where you're going with that comment, but if you think all statues from the "good old days" are completely solid, think again. Many people consider the Thor PF (comic) a grail...it's hollow, my friend. So, hollow pieces is nothing new.

The real issue is the QC stuff. I'm more concerned about sloppy paint or googly eyes...stuff that actually detracts from the look of the piece.

Maybe I'm biased because I've yet to own a statue (I'm into 1/6 figures), but it seems pointless to ask for something solid. It's cheaper to ship and in the end, if the QC is there, you can just put it on the shelf and forget about the weight. I don't see how it would bother me, personally. Also... 20 pounds is 20 pounds... That still seems plenty heavy. It's not like these hollow statues are paperweights. :dunno

Do you guys think this statue will sell out any time soon? I want it but have absolutely no place to put it.

It's a strange phenomenon(first time I used that word on a forum :lol)

People were saying the same thing about the Dark Rider of Mordor -

"It's just a bunch of rags on a horse"

What it comes down to is what the piece means to you. Value for money in collecting is a bit different. I really don't think the Legendary Scale Figures are worth the money but maybe if I had one I'd feel different. :wink1:

PS Never buy a premium format- if you do - you'll sell every 1/6 scale you have. :nana:

:hi5: I started with statues and could never see me buying 1:6 'toys'.
Hot Toys seem to be more popular on this forum though?

I've had both.

I much prefer the statue's though. I'm all about the presence and minimal displays.

A 30 inch Hulk Statue gets the heads turning. :yess:

I own both, but prefer statues. I will never buy another Hot Toy. To me, they just don't compare. Hot Toy's are just that, overpriced barbies with really detailed faces.

Harsh!!! :lol

Hot Toys are awesome and in some respects are more detailed and more accurate than statue's.

BUT!

Statue's are a moment frozen in time. They are more like a piece of art.
