It all comes down to speed. You would cry about lag , load times ect.. If you had to run from disk. BluRay max out around 27mb/s, where most hdds max out 3-4 times that and some are 6-7 times faster.

Gotcha...Well, they should still ship with bigger hdds. I'm sure next year, they'll release a new package with a proper sized hdd, but it should launch with at least a TB considering the ridiculous size of these games.

At least a TB? You do realize that 1TB is pretty much the max for 2.5" drives and depending on the the max height the ps4 will fit drive wise they very few drives over 1TB may not physically fit. Also if they had gone from 500MB to 1TB the price would have likely been $100 more.

I know a lot of people think the drive needs to be bigger, how many different games do you regularly play at one time? I know it would be a slight inconvenience to have to uninstall and reinstall games if your playing more than around 10 games at a time.

Picked up NBA2k14 yesterday and just ordered Madden, Killzone and ACIV at Amazon.

I don't even like basketball. Yet I really want to get that game based on the graphics alone. Its a darn shame the NFL kicked them out of making games.

Seriously NBA 2k looked so similar to a broadcast to me.

Official from my local ebgames !!! I am invited to the VIP launch party for being one of the first preorders of PS4 !!!

WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!

I hope they let me film inside.

I don't see any of those things as an issue. . 1 tb will be standard in the next console package guaranteed. If it can be done then it can be done now for the same price.

It will take 9 or 10 games to fill the ps4 hdd at their current size. Once people have to start erasing things to make room, (which wont take very long) it wont seem like "no big deal".

:lol

I have seen pricing OEMs get for 500mb and 1tb drives. It would have cost them a lot more per drive so no it can't be done for same price now. Remember we are talking 2.5" drives(laptop) not 3.5" drives used in desktops.

They usually take losses on new consoles. Nothing new there. There will be a tb version of both consoles before long. Might as well have them at launch.

Who says they aren't already taking a loss. Sony is not trying to have a repeat of last time where it takes years to start to see a profit. I agree they will have 1tb version next year at some point but that will have been another year and 1tb prices will have also dropped, along with all the other components.
