I intend to keep my slim PS3 (and its games and warranty) until I start to see Gaikai get fleshed out more. At which point, if I decide it's no longer necessary, I'll still probably keep it. Seriously, I never knew how much I appreciated my PS2 until my fat PS3 broke down on me.

:lecture

I remember when I called Sony about having my YLOD fat model repaired and they offered me a slim for 150$. Glad I turned it down and had it repaired.

I'm getting a launch unit and honestly, I don't see a problem with it... by the time it breaks down, I'll have the money to get it fixed or replaced anyways. :wink1:

*touch wood*

I dont see how everyone has problems with their consoles i still have my PS1, PS2, fat PS3 and they all work perfectly to this day!

I don't think luck has anything to do with it. Just keep your consoles in a well ventilated area, away from heat sources, and clean the dust from the vents regularly, and you should be fine.

Some people have bad luck. Electronics break even if you treat them like a baby. I went through 3 xboxes one got the rrod the 2nd day I had it.

Well holy hell, i think if my console broke i just wouldnt have one anymore. Its an expensive peace of tech, i feel for you bro. Freaking 3 Xboxs, **** me!

I must be super lucky cause i barley clean the dust outta my gear. Maybe a lighter climate in the UK or something?

Well, the X-Box 360s were always prone to RROD. Every person that I know, who has owned a 360, has had to return their consoles at some point in time for repairs. YLOD is a problem on the PS3, too, but it isn't as rampant of an issue.

I actually didn't have to pay for them well besides the original one I bought. I eventually got fed up with them and asked the store to just give me my money back which they did surprisingly. I then waited and got a Slim when it came out.

I guess I can be number one then.

I will always keep my 360 no matter what.

There are many games l love that l still play, that are origanal Xbox titles that work for 360, such as Max Payne 1 and 2, silent hill 2. not to mention the great 360 games that wont work on next Gen. I love those games and want to keep a console so l can continue to play those games.

I could never trade in my 360, because then l would be saying goodbye to those Xbox and 360 games forever.

went to gamestop over the weekend and traded in my Gears 3 xbox and Wii with all my xbox games. credit of $310 towards PS4 :rock this is my first time ever pre-ordering and receiving a new console on launch day so im super excited :rock :rock

I'm also holding on to my fat BC PS3 and 360. I have too many games I love that I know I will want to play again. Atleast I'll only be adding one new console to my arsenal rather than two.

I value my PS3 like a gold bar due to it's backwards compatibility. Maybe in a future release will get a system that works with everything previously... but that's just wishful thinking.

Same here. Can't trade those in either.

I wanna pre-order a PS4(UK) but dont know where from. Where has the best warrenty/suppot incase everything breaks down.
Bought my PS3 from Virgin, who shut down a year later lol

I never thought to ask but having a BC PS3 you can see the real difference with the HD re-release. Have you tried it out with a good re-release like MGS2?
How big is the difference really, i hear alot of (graphical) stuff is missing in these re-releases

selling my ps3 today

dont understand why you would do that. PS4 aint backwards compatible.
