Has it ever been considered to have a "lottery" type system. Generally the "refresh every second" strategy of first come first serve will only do bad things to a cluster of servers. If there was a short window for those who wanted a specific peice to apply to have their name in the basket, SS could randomly draw a certain number and designate their account with the ability to purchase the item.

Just my 0.02.

Don't go there. Please. It has been tried, and it was generally hated by most of us. I'll take my chances with a first come, first served system any day over a lottery. If I am first to the site, I deserve to be able to purchase the item. If I'm not, then I don't.

Agreed, still the best system.

Hard to drop 2 cents if I don't know the answers ;)

All I can say is that almost every post on this board is read by *someone* at Sideshow and/or passed along to those who 'need' to see it - just because there may not be an answer posted (immediately or even ever), doesn't mean it hasn't been seen and processed :duff

:horror Someone from SS reads all my posts!!??

:D :monkey3

Thank you Ripley and The Thing, you worked "Marvel"ously during the Legolas PPO!

just flat out wont load for me.
Keep getting an error page .... :monkey2
changes in their site are pretty painful processes. Maybe theyre not R&D'd enough before being launched?

It still won't load for me. I'm using Safari and Firefox.

Hi guys, not sure what the problem was tonight, but you can be sure it will be discussed. Not that I have anything to do with it, but for what it's worth I'm sorry that it wouldn't load for some people  Sounds like this time it was perhaps the NEWSLETTER servers, rather than the Sideshow servers. Sigh.

Anyway, did you guys who were having trouble get it to load later in the evening? Let us know if not.

I just tried again on both with no luck. I keep getting the "page failed to open" message. :monkey2

Just to cover all the bases - have you cleared your browser's cache and history, shut down the browser, and re-started it? Occasionally there are browser caching issues that can affect things like this. I can't re-create it here on either Firefox or Safari, using 3 different computers (granted, they are all Macs though)... it loads on all just fine for me.

Also, you have the latest versions of both browsers right? Sometimes I had problems before I updated to Firefox 3.

I'm in this morning! Not sure what the problem was, but it seems to have cleared itself out. Strange.

btw - I like the new format, it's a lot easier on the eyes.

will finally let me in this morning as well.
Im on a Mac too running Safari. Friend of mine also couldnt get in last night and he was another Mac running Firefox I believe .... :monkey1

Very weird. Thanks for posting - all the info is good to have in order to trouble-shoot and work with the vendor who hosts our newsletter software :duff

If I've learned one thing about life it's that if it's not one thing, it's another... be it technology, raising kids, sickness, pets, traffic, nature, home-owning, etc etc - you think you get one thing figured out and something else pops up!

Maybe it was a Mac thing. I couldn't get it to load on either of mine last night. Now it's fine.

And I agree about the new look of the NL. It looks great.
