I've been off the computer for a few weeks and was gonna pass on Plo, but after seeing that wicked gauntlet put myself on the waitlist for him after all.

I always thought he looked cool enough, but normally he would have been an easy pass. The cool gauntlet was the thing that pushed him into the "want" catagory. Sweet!

I said the same thing about Luke when I passed on him. After it came out I realized how cool it was and bought one off ebay.

Lesson learned: order even if you are unsure. if you get an exclusive and don't want it, there's always someone on these boards who missed it and will gladly take it off your hands.

Yeah, I originaly ordered the SDCC non-attendie "Vader-Sith Aprentice" then cancelled as he was too similar to "Jedi Anakin" only to change my mind once he came out and then get him back through Ebay...

However, I won't be changing my mind for "Plo".

I'm looking forward as well. I need another alien to compliment ol' Kit Fisto, since he's surrounded by a bunch of Jedi oomans.

And the gauntlet will look good when I pit him against my 12" Maul when he comes in.

I am curious as to why he's so expensive! Kit wasn't that much, and neither is Darth Maul, or any of the Jedi! What up? If Plo is to be $60, the price for armored figures just went way up. It's gonna get to the point where we're going to need Flex Pay for the regular 12" lines....

I think it had to do with the complexity in sculpting the Plo Koon head. That is really detailed sculpt and probably took a long time. Plus they had to sculpt 2 new sets of hands.

R&D. It was a challenge for them to get the face mask right.

The outfit color is just wrong, shouldn't it be mostly red? It looks more like Mace Windu's outfit than anything..

I don't care what anyone says or how they try to spin it, I am absolutely convinced that, despite statements to the contrary earlier on in the line, SSC has raised the base price of the figures at least $5.

The last offering at $49.99 was Mace Windu... six months ago.

Bib Fortuna for $54.99, followed by Leia Boushh & Plo Koon for $59.99 ea. This is an easy trend to spot, folks. Say goodbye to $49.99 figures (except maybe the Jawa figure... by that time the basic figures will probably have inched closer to a hundred).

And, I'm sorry, I don't care how much more detailed the sculpt is and that he comes with an extra set of hands (which IS cool) there is just no logical way to explain how SSC spent $5 more per figure on Plo Koon than Kit Fisto.

It's a price hike. Plain and simple.

The price has gone up $5 who cares. Is it really that big of a deal? There are lots of reasons why they went up and yes it does include just a general price increase. Some reasons could be the cost like shipping costs to SS because of oil increase or one of a hundered other reasons. So I think just saying some of the outrageous stuff I've seen as to why is jumping the gun just a bit. If you can't deal with figures in the $55-60 range and $65-75 for armored figures (I would guess) then get out. You're only hurting yourself financially speaking.

Ouch! Way to shut down a conversation! May we not discuss it? The price has not just gone up $5, my friend. We all remember when Sideshow figures cost a mere $20. They have steadily risen to this point, where we're paying nearly $80 (with shipping) per figure. That's significant, and bears discussing, I think. Maybe it's just a lot of whining, but this is the place for it, dammit!

I don't believe Plo is any harder a figure to tool than Kit Fisto, or harder to sculpt than Luke, which went for a full $15 less, I believe. Maybe that's not a BFD to you, but if the trend continues, most of us will have to watch our budget even closer, and many of us have to cancel things we want already. There's a lot of great product coming out. I'd love to snap up a lot of it, but the prices are rising pretty steadily. It's $5 now. By the time we get to fan favorites like Vader, Chewie, and Boba, don't be surprised if it's a solid $100 price tag for each, and what are you going to do if they start billing one after the other like what happened with Mace, Obi, and Qui?

I'll tell you. Cancelations galore.

5-10 bucks isn't a big deal to me.

Wait till you have the final product in hand to see if it was worth it, and I believe it will be.

I think he will also have a much lower edition size than the rest of the Star Wars figures too, so that may play a part in it.

The best way for people to vote against perceived price gouging is to vote with their wallets. If people are willing to pay it, SSC would be foolish not to charge the top rate for their product. These figures are luxuries, not necessities. If the price hike is troubling, don't buy it.

Was I taken aback by Plo's price tag? Yes, but I ordered it anyway so I have no room to gripe about it.

I don't mind the price hike either. As of right now the only things I am collecting are SSC Star Wars line, their LOTR line (please let me find an Exclusive Boromir), and Master Replicas Muppet line. My issues with Plo though:

Lightsaber isn't blue.

That's it. The outfit doesn't bother me because we never saw him without the robe. Even in AOTC he has the robe on. I should know I just watched that scene to be sure. So the only thing wrong at this point is the lightsaber. And as Obsolete said, I ordered it. I'm not going to gripe.

I think it's worth mentioning that Hasbro did a really decen job with the headsculpt of Plo Koon, and though it was hard to find, it was still just $20-25 retail... like the Collector Series years prior to it.

It's true that he's never seen without the robes in the movies nor in promotional photos. If any of you geeks can prove that Plo's tunic & pants are of a different color, PROVE IT NOW before it's too late! I don't want this figure to get Qui-gonned.

I'm still bummed about the lack of a YELLOW lightsaber. It wasn't just a Hasbro invention, it was featured in the Jedi Power Battles game. The yellow blade sure gave Plo a unique character.

Well, I went back and edited my post because it did sound a bit harsher than what was meant. That's why it's worded the way it is now. Ya know I wasn't collecting SS back when they where $20. So for as long as I've been collecting them they have always been $50+. Everything goes up as does the cost to make them, transport them, ship them, and a million other things. So the $5 bucks is nothing.

He wasn't? I do believe Dusty said there was more that went into Plo than Kit and that they spent more R&D time on him. I for one will believe her. Why? Because I know Dusty and believe she is telling the truth. He is also a much more difficult sculpt than Luke. His human mug would be lot easier to do than an alien. Well, unfortunately you can't get everything you want. I'd love to have all the PF in both SW and all of the LOTR ones as they come out as well as all the GG LOTR/SW stuff. I know that won't happen and I can accept that. If that is something hard to swallow then fooling yourself into thinking you could is a persons own fault. I expect the armored figures to cost a lot more because they R&D and detail in them will be much more than anything in the SW line. Chewie would be difficult as well to get the faux fur right. I just expect those to cost more. If they start coming one right after another like with the recent figures. I'll figure it out or I'll cancel stuff I want less. That's how life works.

Again, is it just me or is Plo wearing Mace's gear down to the boots?

If SS is taking artistic license with the colors, why don't they just use the reddish color scheme used by Hasbro? It looks unique, and as cool as like Kit's salmon tunic!

Fair enough. I didn't know Dusty had said that.
