Interesting... I ordered this from Amazon and didn't even see the part about the 1-100 numbers! They will be randomly distributed, so you have a 1 in 100 chance of getting a number between 1 and 100! Now that is just plain weird! :monkey1

I think you have a 1 in "whatever total allocation they have to sell" chance of getting 1-100. I'm pretty sure they will have more than the 1st 100 edition numbers to sell.

limited edition number, 1-10,000. Numbers 1-100 have been stocked by Amazon.com and will be shipped randomly to customers who order this item. Please note we can't guarantee you will receive one of the lower numbers in this series.

Hey all
I just saw that the POTA set with the Ape head has just went up in price on Amazon. It was $125 something now it is $130 something!

Checked my pre-order and it still shows $125.00.

If you pre-ordered it at the $125 price, Amazon will not increase your order after the fact... it just means that "schmoes" like me who didn't pre-order it early will have to pay a higher price for it.

This happened to the Buffy Chosen Collection as well. :monkey2

Does anybody seen any ads for the set in their local paper? Any price deals for this set?

Just curious. :monkey3

Well you will be disappointed to know Elwood, that the Original Planet of the Apes movie discs included in this set are identical, to the 35th anninversary release..(Assuming that is the set you already have...) Because the Original already had an anamorphic widescreen transfer, and DTS, DD5.1 sound. The sequels, were previously the only ones without anamorphic transfers, and DD5.1 sound..That has been rectified with this set...But, as you stated, you aren't interested in them..So,unless you are buying for the bust or the TV/cartoon series, it would be pretty pointless for you.

Yeah, I knew that. I meant by my post that I don't need anymore Apes discs other than the original, and the 35th anniversary 2-disc set is excellent. I'm done upgrading ANY DVD I own until Blu-Ray/HD-DVD. I'm down to about 250 DVD's left in my collection, and I'm satisfied with only getting a few more until HD takes off. I've had a DVD player and 5.1 setup since 1998 (it's staggering to think what that cost back then), and I feel that it's time for me to take the next step in home theater.

Of course, I'll continue to buy the must have titles and others that aren't likely to be available on HD for quite a while, if they are ever made at all.

Yeah...I just hope for the new releases, once HD-DVD and blu-ray come out, that they don't stop releasing them (new titles)on DVD....I mean, maybe not straight away...but, in 1-2 years time, it could be used as a tactic to get people to "convert" :naughty ...

Because, at least for now...I am happy with just good 'ol DVD....

Oh...and Me too Creech!...Can't wait to get this set, and have an apes marathon!

I've been calling around all morning... it looks like (at least in my area) that the Ape bust set is nowhere to be seen. Target doesn't carry it. Neither does Best Buy. Nor Circuit City. The only place I found it was at Fry's Electronics... and they had only one for $170!

Looks like I should have pre-ordered from Amazon after all! And I could have saved $10 too!!!:banghead :banghead :banghead

As a last resort, I'm going to check Costco (I need to go there anyways) to see if they have it at a cheaper price... if at all. And if not... I'm going to AMAZON!!!

Has anybody else found these at stores?

Fox is running auctions on Ebay for the set... "Buy It Now" for $135.

Got mine today.Looks better than I thought it would.

PIX, anyone? I'm getting tired of seeing the same old stock picture.

I was hoping to get to see these guys in the store but haven't been able to . I'm one of those anal guys who likes to compare paint jobs and the like. You can't imagine how many Two Towers DVD sets I went through before I got a suitable Gollum statue! :horror

Those WETA painters are funny that way!!! :monkey1 :monkey1 :monkey1

By the way, Costco had zip.

I just ordered mine on Amazon today. I don't expect it for a least a week. That will teach me to try and buy something the old fashioned way!!! :monkey2

GEE... I sure hope I get a REALLY REALLY REALLY low number on my set. :monkey5 :monkey5 :monkey5

You know how those EXTRA RARE LOW NUMBER collectibles are just EBAY GOLD!!! :monkey5 :monkey5 :monkey5

I will be the envy of all Planet of the Apes collectors... EVERYWHERE! :monkey3 :monkey3 :monkey3

Readers note: Sarcasm is easily achieved through the generous use of CAPITAL LETTERS and plenty of wacky icons!

Well, mine arrived today and I am quite happy. Not to spoil it for any one but the DVD meues are the same as the Evolution set released several years ago. Their are no TV spots for the TV series as advertised. :monkey4 Battle does have the extended version for this release. But all in all, I am happy with the set.

Thanks for posting the pics, Coldheart!

Actually, I was thinking that the bust looks better than I expected considering the price. I have paid over $100 for some DVD boxed sets with fewer discs and plain packaging. $125 for all that stuff and a cool looking holder like that doesn't sound so bad.

Well, I got the Ape bust today....

All things considered, I'm happy with the purchase... but I AM bummed that it doesn't have the TV spots as advertised. That was one of the reasons I bought it in the first place. :monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

And I got a stinking high number too!!! #3077!!!:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

Now the damn bust it's worth a thing!!! Thanks AMAZON!!!:monkey2 :monkey2 :monkey2

You think your's is high! Try #9336! :monkey5

I didn't pick this up because I already have the VHS box set, the first DVD box set, the Complete TV Series set and the 35th Anniversary Edition. As cool as this looks, I think I'll just wait until the Hi-Def version is released.

I would like to see how the DVDs are stored inside.
