Yes, saw it this evening and it was great. Better than the second one. Just a really great movie. The jokes were much more creative and the effects were amazing too. Although there were a couple really really stupid things in it, but it was awesome. Has a weird and unexpected ending though. You get to see everything in this that you would want to see. And from what I can compare it looks like it has even more cool effects than the first two. And a weird thing with Jack Sparrow. They could still make more of them, but it would be in a completely different direction. But I'd like to see them do it.

I went to the 8pm showing which wasn't all that packed, not very many people in line, but when I got out at 11 there were a whole lot of people waiting in line for the midnight showing. I guess they didn't realize that it was starting at 8pm and not midnight for this one. It was also great to see the new transformers trailer and the Golden Compass trailer.

Go see it everyone, it's worth it.

I don't do midnight shows because I usually have school the next day or just being too tired to stay up for 2 or more hours. I really wanted to go to the 8pm showing, but I already bought tickets for Saturday and I'll likely go again on Monday. Can't wait to see it!

I hope this movie is good, I am hearing alot of bad reviews.

If the first one was a 10 and the second one was a 7, this would be an 8. It's not as bad as the reviews are saying, it's better. At least by my opinion. And there's so many spoilerific stuff there that it's worth seeing just for that, if not also for the amazing effects.

Hey Dusty, are you waiting until after the convention to see it or are you going to actually try and see it amongst all of the Con activities?

Just to let you guys know... the first 2 parts had extra footage after the credits... and I was thinking this should be the same too.

Stayed till the end with my date nagging there probably isn't cos the credits were rolling for quite some time (she felt since we were the only 2 views who stayed behind, we were holding the cinema staff back on cleaning the place up). But i insisted that we have nothing to loose in waiting and we are not rushing off to anywhere anyway.

True enough... there was something shown after the credits. So you guys should stay behind just to catch it. :)

Crud, I missed the ending after the credits. I ran off to the bathroom because I was holding it for two hours. No matter, I'm going to see it again this weekend. I caught an 8 p.m. showing and loved it.

I agree. In some respects it was darker and more violent, but it still kept the comedy and wackiness of Jack. Loved the interaction between Jack and Barbossa. I thought it tied everything together quite nicely and the ending was not what I had expected. I certainly hope they make a 4th.

IMO I thought this film was just a good as the other two.

NON-SPOILER segment:

Liked, not loved the movie, but it held my interest. I LOVED pt 1. Pt 2 was a hoot, and this one, is long. Not terrible, as I love the characters, but it runs very long.

I LOVED the following things about the movie though...
Davey Jones. Cannot have enough DJ for me. He frikkin' rules.
Kiera Knightly. God in heaven she is a beauty! And there was plenty of her in this one too. Love the blue-green shirt bit.
Captain Barbossa! THANK GOD HE'S BACK! Love this guy! The ongoing bits with the telescopes is classic.
Jack's DAD! Keith Richards RULES! If only he was in a LOT more of the movie. I got the feeling that there was a lot of cool stories with this guy! I want him as a figure too! Wicked!

Resolved plotlines. Thank God they stuck to finishing some of the plots.

Did not like: Not enough "Real world" sense. Movie is a bit too over the top fantasy all the while, and no one seems to be bothered, compared to the more realism world (with bizarre things in it) based first two. Suffers Return of the Jedi syndrome, as in too long, and too many muppets (they seemed more muppety in this one) Not enough really funny Jack shenanigans. Weird Jack, yes. FUN Jack, debatable. But he is consistant at least.

And yes, TO EVERYONE...STAY UNTIL AFTER THE END CREDITS!!!! One of the best parts of the entire movie is after the credits. Gave me chills. GREAT add-on! SEE IT!

All in all, a fun movie. I do like it. Will buy it on DVD (DUH!) and would recommend it to everyone.

SPOILER section...

You've been warned...(Although I don't get specific, you may can still figure out what I mean...)

Not too sure I like the Will & Elizabeth story resolution, but can live with it. Not your average happy ending. But, I can take it that they wanted a more mythic story.
And I do LOVE the way they end up with Jack. Now, they can make ten more JUST Jack movies. I only wonder if any of the rest of the cast will show up for them.

At least we got three movies with EVERYBODY.

I was really surprised how many people didn't stay for the credits. The first two had something, so this one had to.

NECA is making Elizabeth in that dress. They are making Keith Richards too if his name in indeed Teague as rumored (in 7" and 18" talking figures). And I feel the same way on Barbossa and Davy Jones. Bill Nighy rocks! I just hope they can find a part for him in one of the Harry Potters. Oh I can't wait to see this. Saturday won't come soon enough.

Yeah but is this really worth staying for the end credits? Last time everyone said stay and watch after the credits for a part, which was of that stupid dog!

This better be worth it this time! I don't wish to be disappointed again! Credits usually take 5-10 minutes. I am not spending 5-10 minutes to watch worthless crap! hehe

:dunno:dunno:dunno

In all seriousness, I thought the bit at the end of this one was the best of the three and actually pertained to the plot.

In the first film Jack the monkey re-curses himself, I'd say that was somewhat important to the plot of DMC.

And I don't have a problem staying through credits. Everyone who worked on the film deserves to have their name shown.

Darn, I just got back from seeing it and I didn't stay to watch the credits, although I almost did (didn't know there was extra after the first two either, I'll have to go watch that now!). Oh well, I loved it so its worth seeing again!

Indeed it did. It brought closure to a very important story arc, and is well worth seeing. But then, I have liked all of the post-credit scenes, so :dunno.

;)

BTW, I loved every minute of the movie, even though I too was a bit upset by the way some of the character subplots were resolved. Not that they were handled badly from a storytelling perspective, but it's just not what I wanted to see happen to certain characters.

I think my feelings can be summed up by the end of a review I read:

Amid a season of franchise movies you couldn't pay me to endure twice, the prospect of seeing "Pirates" again, and soon, makes me a very Jolly Roger. -- Colin Covert

Loved the movie, stayed through to the end of the credits and it was worth it.

I would put this movie up there with any one of the Lord Of The Rings movies. This is the definition of an EPIC.

Bring on part 4!!!

I saw it last night at 10:15. I don't know if I was just too tired to really enjoy it, or what, but I wasn't that impressed. I know, I know, that's like *heresy* for me to say... but it's true. There were a lot more cheesy bits (like, ridiculous-drama cheesy, not funny cheesy), I didn't like what they did with certain characters (although I have no problem with the Will/Elizabeth storyline), and there were a couple too many plot twists/back stabbing moments... I was confused why this person was doing that to that person, and vice versa, through most of it. I did love the Jack/Barbossa/Davy Jones dynamic and the whole Jack in Davy Jones' locker sequence though! There were a lot of 'WTF!?' moments throughout, which made me really wonder HOW they came up with those ideas/lines - which I LOVE! I'm a big fan of randomness...

I think maybe I just need to see it again - I was operating on only 3 hours of sleep after spending 10+ hours at Celebration IV! I'll see it again soon, and let you know if my opinion changes ;)
