POTC, worth seeing????

Hi all,

I've not seen any of the Pirates of the Caribbean and I just saw an advert on TV for a new one?.

What are these films like and how many are there?.Are there 2 or 3?

I'm thinking of getting them to watch, my friends love them and I just wondered what you guys thought, whether its worth my buying them to see.

My friends think I'm mad cos ive not seen them yet they are so good apparantly?!

What do you all think?

The first one is a great movie and is very entertaining. If it hadn't been done by Disney with a PG rating, it could've been one of the greatest movies of all time.

The second movie was one of the biggest pieces of $hit I've ever seen in my entire life. It was so bad, that it virtually ruined the first one. If you've ever seen the Ninja Movie Review, he's spot on for his review of this movie.

So in short, see the first and forget that there is a second movie.

I don't think so, I like the second alot. I think we've watched it more than the first one.

A LOT of a fun! I think the first one is perfect, and the second one very good. Not a lot of people love the second one though. If you like a good fun adventure, it's about the best stuff out there these days!

I'd love an excuse to sculpt barbossa, jack and davey jones!

Go for it Shell! Both POTC movies were alot of fun to watch. A good mix of humor and action. I just bought POTC2 yesterday in preparation for #3 that comes out this month.

POTC 2 has some awesome special effects in it if you like that stuff. Well worth watching plus it'll make you want to buy the HT Jack Sparrow.

The first one is great! The second one is a lot of fun, but goes way over the top. I would watch both of them if I were you.

And the third one won't make much sense if you don't see the second one first. (How's that for a sentence?)

They are all great watch them all!!!!!! Jack Sparrow is the coolest.

The first one is definitely an excellent film and fun to watch repeatedly. The second one is still good, a little on the longer side with less camp and fun but I have a feeling they were going "ESB" with that one and the 3rd should be a saving grace here. You can't really fault the second until you see the third IMHO because they were filmed at the same time....

Agreed with the others. The first one was a great adventure. The second one was good but not up to par with the first one. Though since it kinda left off as a cliffhanger there wasn't any closure as the first one had. So, its trying to judge how good half of the story is. But, yes definitely watch them.

My friends jaw nearly dropped when I said I hadn't seen it, she says 'everyone's seen it'. Well, not me!
All she could say was it was 'Awesome!', from reading this thread I assume she was talking about the first one, I'll have to ask her.

So this one thats coming out soon, is that the last one?

I dunno why ive not seen it/them. I can't see films at pictures so I have to wait for them to be released on DVD and for some reason I just forgot about that one....strange I know but thats just me

3 years??? wow I didnt realise it came out that long ago, for some reason I thought it was quite a new film, jeeesh i'm an idiot

Yeah, I would see them. As has been said the first one was freaking great!! It's one of those you just truly enjoy watching over and over and the second is pretty solid as well. It wasn't as good as the first one for me but it's pretty damn close. I expect the third one will rock our socks off.

I think that sums it up well for me, 2 isn't as good... but thats hard to judge clearly when you have a cliff hanger. I do remember really enjoying it the theater.

Lame stories, ok action, boring characters, and forced, over the top comedy.

I just don't understand why they are so popular.
