I just don't understand why they are so popular.

My guess: Kiera, Orlando and Johnny ...

Oh and just PM Dusty, she'll straighten you out. :wave

*dies of shock*

I'm literally at a loss for words....

And no, I think GRUSON is on my s*** list now :lol But if there's anything that the internet has taught me is that it's useless to argue when it comes to matters of opinion :p

:lol :lol,
Sorry Dusty, but you will be glad to hear I have just ordered a box set of them both.
This is the one I'll be getting:-
https://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/334...f-The-Black-Pearl-Dead-Man-Chest/Product.html

So I can get caught up, it certainly seems like the first one was a hit and the second not as good but I can get watching both as soon as the DVD's arrive.

Cocoboloboy-yeh, I've read all the posts here about SM3 and it seems the least favourite of the 3. I am desperate to see it as Spiderman was always one of my favourites so bring on the DVD, and YES I have seen SM 1 & 2 :D

Thank you everybody for all your opinions, very much appreciated.

True. Very true. :duff

Of all movies, these and the Star Wars original trilogy (and the new Pride and Prejudice, for some odd reason) are the ones I can watch over, and over, and over, and over again. True, the POTC movies are a tad bit long and could have used some tighter editing, but I so enjoy watching the characters interact that it doesn't bother me. I also heard a rumor that #3 will be nearly 3 hours long (there goes its chance at winning back the opening weekend!), but DAMN that trailer is cool!! :chew I'm thinking I'll be sad to see it end, even after 3 hours of sitting in a theater :monkey2

I am not a fan of them.

Lame stories, ok action, boring characters, and forced, over the top comedy.

I just don't understand why they are so popular.

:D

Don't worry, you're not alone... I think that makes about 4 of us on this side of the fence! Massively unimpressed by the first (which, given the sum of it's parts should have been so much more) so 'fraid I won't even touch the sequels with the proverbial 10' barge pole.

If anyone can find out it out there on the www, Mark Kermode's review of the first one on BBC Radio 5 Live was an absolute hoot.

I am not a huge fan by all means, but they are worth watching atleast once, regardless of the fact. They don't have the best story lines, but the action, humor, and great acting from guys like Johnny Depp, not to mention the beautiful set pieces, still fuels the fire within you to want and see more.

Plus, the other incentive I have for seeing the third installment of Pirates of the Caribbean is the fact they'll be showing a new trailer for the upcoming Transformers: The Movie!!! Oh Happy Day! Almost just as good as 7.4.7!

I'm not a huge fan of the series. I thought the first on was fun film (well worth repeated veiwings). The second was just not on the level as the first. The repeat of jokes (how many freaking rum jokes do we need in this series...blah) was annoying and the repeat of scenes (how many times did we need people rolling around in something) was just oh so bad. The ending was very anti-climatic since we all know a third movie is coming so main players are safe.

I'll see the third but I'm going into it with low expectations after experiencing the so-so nature of the second one.

I'm interested to see what the next 'big' passing movie fan fad will be once the third one is released. The fanbase will drop to a handful so people will had to move onto the next movie fad. I wonder what it will be?

Girls love it because of:

I guess I am one of the rare viewers who actually didn't mind the second film at all, in fact it was probably on par with the first.

It certainly has the "Sparrow-effect" well worn into it, we all knew what to expect this time. Sure the action scenes were rather self-indulgent, but for a summer fun film, it delivered.

I think once At World's End comes out that there will be a turn around on opinion on Dead Man's Chest.

but the first is easily the best pirate adventure movie ever made (and I'm an Errol Flynn fan). The second is also great, but isn't as perfect as the first.

I didn't think the first one was all that, but I thought the second one was incredible. I loved all the twists and turns and the more overall "epic" feeling of the story.

One of the things that often gets overlooked when discussing these movies is the music. Both have an beautiful score.

Don't forget, anyone who loves those movies enough should get them on Blu Ray next week if they have the means. I'm thinking that things like Davey Jones are going to look absolutely amazing in HD.
