Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Did you get any more details from the SS rep?
Did they say the disc in hand was the Ex?
Cheers CC.

I know, he's just got the P1 Maquette as he stated.
He posted this in the 1:5 Scar thread...
'Yup. I forgot his name but I see him on one of the SSC production video. As always they said the problem is in china manufacturing. The P2 will have a switch hand holding the disc maybe that will be the exclusive'...

Having gone back to get the quote I now realise he doesn't know if it's the Ex or not.

This is the guy who told me about the disc

He mention about the disc so i am thinking maybe that will be the Exclusive. I think is wise for them to have the regular and exclusive to have both unmask and mask head and the exclusive is a switch hand holding a spear and disc :dunno

I don't think he's talking about the price for this maquette.

NOPE not for P2 maquette. I think $1600 for P2 Maquette is too much. I am guessing about $600 - $800.

P1 price is $999 because Stan Winston gets a Cut on the pie. Like Legacy

P1 Summary

Sideshow Collectibles, in partnership with Stan Winston Studios, presents the definitive Predator collectible product. The Predator Maquette stands at an imposing two feet in height, including the detailed jungle base. It includes detailed body armor and a fabric net body suit, authentic to the iconic film costume, with leather material accents and impeccable detail, right down to the shoulder cannon and complex skin patterns. Starting with scanned data reduced in size from the 1:1 scale original on display at Stan Winston Studios, senior artists Trevor Hensley and John Rosengrant have meticulously recreated the cinema classic in approximately 1:4 scale with unrivaled authenticity. In their words, "the details surpass the original."This maquette will stand out as the centerpiece of any trophy room on Earth or beyond the stars.

I wish they would put us out of our misery already and put the details up. :impatient:

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

Seems like a lot of people will be very surprised when the prices comes.

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

That's a fair point... I should have said sideshows factories. You raise a very good point though, Sideshow know the reputation they have with regards to poor quality and shoddy paint apps and they must realise it is damaging them long term when even the die hard fans fear the worst of the production pieces.. If higher quality paint jobs can indeed be done en mass in China as other companies seem to prove, why don't they find better work shops? :dunno

the questionable quality of ss' paint apps is what's holding me back from pre-ordering this. it's a beautiful piece and although p1 pred is my favourite by a mile, one look at this guy and i was very very tempted to get him. but i think i'll hold out til i see some in-hand production pieces. if they're sold out by then, so be it. i'll just wait til ss does a 1/4 pf of p1. :D

Re: Predator 2 City Hunter 1:4 Maquette

I think you're right. And I'll be surprised if it is under $1000.

You think Sideshow can really ask more for this than the larger Sauron? I'm not so sure they can. I am expecting the worst of course but I can't see the justification in that figure... or anywhere even close to it.

Yeah I wish it were that simple but I expect this will sell out long before production pieces are seen, assuming the price isn't ludicrous. It's a case of bite the bullet and risk it I think. If it's the figure I have in mind or less I'm definitely in, but I will have no problem returning it if the final item stinks. Lets just hope SS make this a good one and all is well in the world.
