My apologies - I forget - did you get the discount? - if so use the savings towards the fix - no brainer.

If not, and you haven't ordered, maybe wait until the REG is discounted. The extras on the EX are (IMO) useless for display and they will HAVE to discount the REG HEAVILY and/or reduce the edition size if they want to stand ANY chance of selling out.

.

Na could not get the discount when I messaged them tonight, was frustrated, oh well I am over the discount. I do not mind the extra parts, much like what hottoys collectors not happy having less accessory, the extra parts is more value for money and its more bang for the buck like some say

Tracked down someone who can repaint statues, sending my unmasked maquette head to him, to give it the quills and paint app it truly deserves

Customizing any statue devalues it, as far as I'm aware.

Looking forward to the results.

No. If painted by a paintmaster it will add significant value. Reselling can be a challenge not because of devaluation but because most people couldn't afford the price you would have to sell to make it worthwhile . . .

:exactly:
Take this P2 maquette for example... anyone even thinking of customizing it would only improve on it. This piece needs a lot of work. Any attempts at aftermarket customization won't make it any worse.

Ah well - my gut instincts & first impressions on this were matched on opening it up.

Totally unimpressed. As is my Son - quote "the NECA figures look better".

All the bad features look even worse in-hand - ESPECIALLY the spear - OMG. The only thing I was pleasantly surprised with is the paintwork.

Took some photos but will post another day - can't be bothered right now.

.

oh wow reg waitlisted already. I'm sure it will come back at some point. Can't wait to see the custom paint jobs. I've never gone down that road but I would be willing for this piece. I love it as is, but curious what the custom end result would look like.

And ain't THAT the truth.

I don't like to use terms that may come over as too harsh - but as soon as I unwrapped the spear/hand - the words "damn that's pathetic" tumbled out.

Sideshow's art director should be fired over this - as we already knew - there is just SO much wrong with this as delivered.

It's just - well - "tacky".

(* and the EX hand/disc has varnish spilt on it so will have to be replaced IF I decide to keep or sell-on *)

I've noticed one of the reasons I had been feeling so undecided about this piece is because of the relentless trashing it keeps receiving. As I begin to accept the flaws, someone goes on here and curses everyone involved with the statue, and suddenly I'm conflicted again. Weird how that pulls you around...human psychology and all that.

After spending some time with this statue, really the only thing that truly, still really bothers me is the damn biomask on this. It's my favorite bio and I just cant stand how it looks on this statue. The shape and everything...ugh. That definitelydoes not look better in hand. At least not to me. I actually really like the unmasked sculpt now (aside from the weird brow line) and am convinced that with quills, this will look stellar. Spear doesnt bother me as much as I thought it would either.

Also, unless it's been repainted, I dont see how any NECA looks significantly better than this. Especially not the hot toys figure, which I own. I definitely like the bio on that a hell of a lot better than this one, though.

Anyway, moral of the post is that I should probably just stay away from this thread once and for all, so I can more freely form my own opinions blah blah blah yeah yeah.

I'm damn glad I got a discount on this.

Ah what the heck – let’s get this over and done with – photos below.

I’ll post a review over the weekend – there’s way too much “dodgy” (loads of stuff that others haven’t mentioned) to get into words right now.

Anyways – here ya go – first 4 by me, last 2 by my Son.

We hope everyone else is happier with this than we were.

Ian (and Jason).

How do you guys drop a $1000+ on a statue you never liked, have pointed out the problems constantly and have basically never wished to own?

I know it was a $200 discount but its still a $1000 lol.

I'm not knocking anyone and of course its your money but i can't imagine me ever buying something for a $1000 which i never even liked in the first place lol, were not talking "eh it's only $100 lets see what it's like" its a $1000 lol.

Is everyone just looking to flip and they don't want to miss out?

I agree, doesn't make sense at all to publicly criticize a statue to death then buy it.

My thoughts exactly. I have followed this thread over a year now and some guys have nothing but bashed this statue, most of the time about its inaccuracies - maybe even swore never gonna buy it.

And now after all still buying it... and as you might have guessed the same trashing continues :slap

Who are you sending it too to be worked on?

Mine just arrived...

Since you are from the UK, Ian Wilkinson of Facebook, he is from the UK is well. I have been chatting to him what I want done, add him and I am sure he can do what you want to bring it to life, but at the same time it does not look off from the rest of the body. The rest of the statue is fine, apart from the bio head design, if he does get the unmasked head right I think it will be a perfect piece
