I don't need custom quality or even really good paints. Just acceptable would do. Sideshow failed to even reach that level with this one IMO. HT has never disappointed. I think that was my original point. I forget now.

You are also making an assumption that they would pull off 1/2 scale better. I was merely saying that comparing 1/6 to 1/2 paint apps is not really fair as it can not be done the same way. I know how to paint, I have done model painting for many years and the same techniques and tricks do not always carry over as the thing you are painting gets larger.

I agree that the paint apps could be better but im sure it would be more expensive. For assembly line paint its not the worst in the world. The initial proto had the same things wrong with it it just the colors looked different and the blending was done a bit better. I want to see the colors in hand before i judge it too much.

If we want proto quality paint i could see prices being quite a lot higher, look at how much it costs to get a Joe Dunaway commission.

I wonder how much Joe charges for a repaint???

You are not going to get a custom paint job from a factory, but as a customer you can not excuse SS for how bad this thing looks. It might look better in person, but I doubt it will be by much.

I have never had to return an item for paint quality reasons. If i return this and say because the paint doesnt look anything close to the pictures will sideshow refund the full price plus shipping? Or do we get screwed on the shiping because technically its not broken just not what was expected based on the pictures.

If a large percentage of these are returned surely they will kick some a$$ in China and we might get the paint applicatiin the sculpt deserves on the second release
I really couldn't take the chance on this even though we've only seen one clear set of photos. That thing looked so bad I can't see it being a one off.

Hope all the criticism hasn't stopped fallchild from enjoying his piece. That poor guy will probably never post a picture again.

I don't understand why sideshow wont wait until they have a production sample from a manufacturer and then take photos of it for tge preorder. That way we know what we're getting. It seems like such a scam what they do because some of us will return it and the rest of us will try to convince ourselves that the paint apps are acceptable for the price. We shouldnt be worried if itll come in good enough that should be expected. All we should care about is where to put it. Overall I love the sculpt but will need to return it if the paint app is not up to $400 level standard.
