For a 1:1 piece you may be right - that could work I guess.

For smaller scales, not sure of the benefit of this over having alternate heads.

The only GK that IMMEDIATELY springs to mind that had a mask that DID fit over the face was the original SuperEdge (AKA Nayuta) Shiraiwa Hayes P1 "Hunter of darkness". I have a buildup of that along with a couple of raw kits, and the mask fits nicely over the unmasked head. HOWEVER - the quills are sculpted flat against the head.

Some shots of my copy can be found here - https://www.modelzone.com/mangrasshopper/index.php?level=album&id=34 (samples below)

I would kill to have a 1:1 P1 bust that could be displayed with closed mandibles or with biomask. However, not at the cost of having quills smashed down with the bio on nor with visible cut lines in the event they make the mandibles removable to accommodate a snug fitting mask.

Do you have the SS Bust?

I understand anyone who owns the SS piece wanting something completely different (^) but for me the SS looks much better.

I'd take either as long as it looks good quality and accurate.

that would be awesome but I don't believe it's possible. I'm sure you know, When KPH wore the bio mask the had he undermask he wore had the entire face and mouth area cut out so the bio mask would fit nice and sleek over the head. The mandibles, mouth and other facial features would bump-out the bio too far and it would look goofy. But I too wish for that someday some how.

Quills could be a durable bendable plastic/rubber and be ok under the mask. Perhaps they could just make the bio out of aluminum and very thin on the inside where it would not hit the mandibles. There is a way to do it, just takes some thinking and engineering. Probably won't happen of course as they would rather sell 2 busts than make one to do both.

the Bio wouldn't look very accurate if it were super thin. They would have to compromise quite a bit to do this or simply have the mandibles removable, so there would be a good sized seam there.

I mean thin on the inside, you could make the edges thicker to look accurate, but thin where it would need to have room for the mouth.

I think the quills would be a problem, if bendable likely going to be made of a degradable material (cost) and even then repeated replacement of the biomask would probably cause some paint rubbing. Also the mandibles would have to be more closed then you see in most pictures I think. Edit: My narin kits with removable bios don't have quills on the face, I prefer them with the mask though and leave them on permanently they just happen to be a feature.

Yup I am aware of that. :duff
This pic has been circulating for years:

Hopefully someone will figure out how to get both masked/unmasked options into one piece.

Personally not a fan of the idea... There would have to be some sort of stand for the bio when not on... And that would jack the price another few hundred $$...

Id rather have a second bust with a properly sculpted bio....

I keep going back to Sidehow's page for this and hovering over the preorder button! I think I'm loosing the willpower to resist!
