You are awesome! Just starting to figure out all the stuff on my 40D to take some nice pictures. I've notive a tripod can really help. Looks like I need one and some ligts. Damned expensive hobby. Even more expensive than this hobby!!

:chew

Definitely a tripod is useful in many situations! And lights never hurt. When you add some collectible photos in your flickr don't forget to send them to our group :D

Actually, I used flash for all of these particular shots, but I mix and match. I certainly have no shortage of natural light shots-- sometimes it is the better choice. But I'm on a flash kick. :monkey5

@Gabberjawa: Great pictures man ! You should also post the 8th picture here. Great picture !!

What's your flash setup, the quality is much softer than my softest stuff. I use a shoe mount flash, though I have a 3 foot cable for it so I hold it and bounce the flash off of walls and the ceiling to soften the effect but it's still pretty strong in contrast compared to what you're getting. I like the contrast for some shots, but there are others where I'd like to achieve what you are.

Thanks guys

MF: Yep I do a lot of bouncing too. It's actually quite difficult to get it balanced right sometimes, and to get flash to go where you want it and not where you don't. I'm having a lot of fun practicing though.

Interesting, guess I need to just keep experimenting then. Thanks for the info.

Fortunately, I'll get this bad boy while I can still shoot natuarl light stuff, a few more weeks and my only natural light opportunities will be weekends, it'll be dark by the time I get home all fall and winter. Predator's look good in natuarl light shots, my favorite Wolf figure shots were done in natural light.

Man, that is looking good. I didn't even realized this was shipped until I got the notification from UPS. Did sideshow even send a early notification for this? Can't keep mine exclusive and forgot to cancel too.:monkey2

^ I got notices on this one

If you're having problems with contrast you might consider using an umbrella for that flash

Ya, I get good moody lighting, but I don't quite get a good blend of mood and revealing like you have. Your shots have a nice mix of appealing shadow light play, but the overall piece is lit enough that the details come through and aren't obscured.

Thanks again :)

Sure thing. Yes, it was lit by flash, but it's not very complicated. The majority of it is lit by a bounce camera right.

There is a rim light camera left as well, but it's not contributing a great deal.
