Funny how I'm the bad guy with the attitude when the focus somehow got turned to my personal character rather than my repaint of one. Do you guys even read my replies, or do you just get the vibe that somebody started some sparks and you decide to stoke the fire?
I have made my share of critiques on people's work in the mind of constructive advice, but I never tear into somebody personally.
Well now, there's a statement I can agree with you on, or at least be more likely to if your given name was attached to your posts. Some dude with a made up name getting angry on the Interwebs doesn't really do more than entertain momentarily.
My bad. Sorry for being the only one in this situation with a handle. The name is Nathan Eakins, I'm 35, I'm a manager for a Fortune 500 company voted one of the best to work for in the country, and I live in Rowland Heights, Ca., 91748. You want my street address and cell phone number, "D."?
...and for the record, someone who attaches a quote like "Maturity is the effect disillusionment has on your dreams. Never grow up. ~SilentSurfer" to their posts shouldn't tell people to grow up...
That line means to never loose hope or imagination, brother, not to hang onto a grade school mentality.
Et, tu?
The only reason you got called on your arrogance was because you couldn't keep yourself from insulting the work of the company you built off of. What makes you deserve respect that you're too full of yourself to give in the first place?
Again, I never insult somebody personally, and I'm not the only one who made that comment about the Sideshow paint job done by somebody in a factory in China. It was in response to those criticisms of Sideshow (much like the ones all over this site about many, many of their products) by others like me unhappy with Sideshow's QC that I did the repaint in the first place.
Go around calling paint jobs "crappy" and there are people who aren't going to give a damn what your repaints look like. They're just going to see a spoiled brat starved for attention, with no decorum and no class.
And they'll exercise as much restraint in expressing their opinion as you saw fit to. Imagine that.
Well, the Freaks board in my alternate universe is usually filled with people trash talking Sideshow and threads of custom improvements people have made to the mass produced pieces that failed expectations. But since I seem to be in your reality now, I'll only say something when I have something nice to add. That should make for tame, inoffensive, disinteresting Sideshow stroking that will let them know not to step up like Hot Toys does in direct response to what people post here.
All that said, everybody has an opinion, and people like to be heard. That is what this site and ones like it are about. Discouraging that defeats the purpose of these forums. Discuss the figure all you want, criticise paint jobs all you want, even mine, but leave the eye gouging, hairpulling, and catfighting out of it. Trash talking a company for charging what they do for what we get is totally fair game and not personal (unless you work for Sideshow and are taking it personally on a loyalty stand point). We all paid about $300 for this with shipping and handling, and bought the right to criticise it. I'm not unique here at all, not even in this thread. Start at the beginning before you suggest that I am pioneering some Sideshow Haters campaign.
Trash talking each other is when it does get retarded. But inevitably somebody in a given thread always goes there and makes it into what this thread is now just like so many threads before.
I think Sideshow dropped the ball on the paint job. My opinion as it was with many in this thread. I repainted it. I like to hear positive response to it. You may not like what I've done to the figure, and you're welcome to make comments. I may not agree with your opinion, but if you make it personal and say I'm a spoiled, egotistical brat because of it...
