I admit that, but when some jackhole throws out that word like a slap to my face, I hit back. And he did it after I invited other pics to be posted on this thread. Most of this thread has so far been focused on my repaints, but it wasn't started by me or for me, and it's not about me.

And you hit like a girl.

The only reason you got called on your arrogance was because you couldn't keep yourself from insulting the work of the company you built off of. What makes you deserve respect that you're too full of yourself to give in the first place?

Go around calling paint jobs "crappy" and there are people who aren't going to give a damn what your repaints look like. They're just going to see a spoiled brat starved for attention, with no decorum and no class.

And they'll exercise as much restraint in expressing their opinion as you saw fit to. Imagine that.

The soft gloss on the statue makes the paint not want to stick at first, so be patient and keep going in, building it up layers.

You could always hit that area with some testors Dullcote first. It could be used as a makeshift Primer. Might make the paint stick easier.

I think we'd better return to topic. I'd like to see pics of slave Leia compared to other PF's, maybe Vader if anyone has the 2 of them and could make a comparison shot.

Funny how I'm the bad guy with the attitude when the focus somehow got turned to my personal character rather than my repaint of one. Do you guys even read my replies, or do you just get the vibe that somebody started some sparks and you decide to stoke the fire?

I have made my share of critiques on people's work in the mind of constructive advice, but I never tear into somebody personally.

Well now, there's a statement I can agree with you on, or at least be more likely to if your given name was attached to your posts. Some dude with a made up name getting angry on the Interwebs doesn't really do more than entertain momentarily.

My bad. Sorry for being the only one in this situation with a handle. The name is Nathan Eakins, I'm 35, I'm a manager for a Fortune 500 company voted one of the best to work for in the country, and I live in Rowland Heights, Ca., 91748. You want my street address and cell phone number, "D."?

...and for the record, someone who attaches a quote like "Maturity is the effect disillusionment has on your dreams. Never grow up. ~SilentSurfer" to their posts shouldn't tell people to grow up...

That line means to never loose hope or imagination, brother, not to hang onto a grade school mentality.

And you hit like a girl.

Et, tu?

Again, I never insult somebody personally, and I'm not the only one who made that comment about the Sideshow paint job done by somebody in a factory in China. It was in response to those criticisms of Sideshow (much like the ones all over this site about many, many of their products) by others like me unhappy with Sideshow's QC that I did the repaint in the first place.

Well, the Freaks board in my alternate universe is usually filled with people trash talking Sideshow and threads of custom improvements people have made to the mass produced pieces that failed expectations. But since I seem to be in your reality now, I'll only say something when I have something nice to add. That should make for tame, inoffensive, disinteresting Sideshow stroking that will let them know not to step up like Hot Toys does in direct response to what people post here.

All that said, everybody has an opinion, and people like to be heard. That is what this site and ones like it are about. Discouraging that defeats the purpose of these forums. Discuss the figure all you want, criticise paint jobs all you want, even mine, but leave the eye gouging, hairpulling, and catfighting out of it. Trash talking a company for charging what they do for what we get is totally fair game and not personal (unless you work for Sideshow and are taking it personally on a loyalty stand point). We all paid about $300 for this with shipping and handling, and bought the right to criticise it. I'm not unique here at all, not even in this thread. Start at the beginning before you suggest that I am pioneering some Sideshow Haters campaign.

Trash talking each other is when it does get retarded. But inevitably somebody in a given thread always goes there and makes it into what this thread is now just like so many threads before.

I think Sideshow dropped the ball on the paint job. My opinion as it was with many in this thread. I repainted it. I like to hear positive response to it. You may not like what I've done to the figure, and you're welcome to make comments. I may not agree with your opinion, but if you make it personal and say I'm a spoiled, egotistical brat because of it...

His repaints might be great, but his attitude is not...

I never got an "attitude" vibe from SilentSurfer and I never went off topic with the conversation. :D

I'm curious to see the size, because I already have Vader but not Leia. And my PF's need to be displayed with display cases so this could be important.

Here's a great side by thanks to D. Martin with the ANH Leia that I actually wanted to see. Seems that the new Leia is slightly taller, even if you take the base into consideration.

Can't find any ANH Leia with Vader though.

There are these.

None I can find with Vader. I remember viewing images of a collection which has a number of these premium format figures including slave leia together but cannot remember where.

Thanks. :) The one with Fett will do since a good friend of mine from Bucharest has it and thus I've seen it in person. In fact he is the one thinking of getting Leia next to his Fett and Vader

Nice pics there. I had the Fett, but sold it for financial reasons before they announced the Slave Leia, or I would have kept it. Seeing it side by side like that looks really good, but I'm not sure Fett doesn't look too big. It might be his base though. I'm still debating reacquiring that piece. Anybody else think he looks bigger than he appeared in the movie in comparison to the new Leia?

Won't be an issue if I bookend them around my Jabbo 1/6 diorama anyway.

I am very impressed by the photos of this statue- very very nice. I just bought it - it will be my first PF figure. Gotta get th PF Indy next...man this hobby is very expensive, Guess I'll be selling off some of my other stuff to get rid of the "guilt" feeling...

Your OK in my book Silentsurfer. I have not seen any bad attitude from you. You did call someone crazy for thinking that the original paint job was better then yours. I think because you were defending your own work people for some reason became offended. Had I said the same statement (and I would) I don't think things would have boiled over like they did. It would not have come across as arrogant because it's not my work. HOWEVER I do not find what you said to be arrogant because I agree with you. Your paint job is clearly better. I don't think you said that just because it was your work.

However if someone else likes the original paint job better then yours that does not make them crazy. Blind perhaps, but not crazy.;)

You know posting on boards is a fragile thing. If someone gets called crazy for thier opinion by someone they know they take it as no insult. But because it is in print it seems to take on this whole new life of it's own. Like it's fact or something. It's all just kind of silly.

Look superstar, you're not getting the point. I don't like the factory paint job, and I've said twice already that your repaint was great. There is one issue here and one issue only. This is it:

If somebody else would post any, it wouldn't be a problem, but unless it's repainted we all know how crappy it looks already, so deal.

You didn't attack anyone personally? Because you didn't name anyone? Because you directed it at the nameless, faceless corporate entity of Sideshow Collectibles, which is not composed of individuals working to create, manufacture and distribute these?

This has nothing to do with your opinion and everything to do with how you have expressed it. Learn some manners and you won't have to write drawn out, cliched posts (yeah, it's been heard a thousand times) about how your opinion is sacrosanct and how (somehow) others' opinions of how you express it are not.

Except that no one was attacking his work. This all began with Dave Martin asking someone to refrain from the annoying habit of reposting posts with multiple pictures in them.
