His pulse never got above 85...even when he ate her tongue...
Alright I've played around long enough with this set to gather my opinions. I'll start by saying that what we saw is what we got. Aside from the lack of weathering shown on the mask in the promos, this set showed up exactly as we were first shown (actually the shoes while still not very good are better than the ones in the promos and the numbers on the blue suit were positioned correctly for the final).
The sculpt was a big disappointment to me from when it was first revealed. I didn't go for this set for the sculpt though; I was more in it for the clothes. I (along with Wake) will be using a customized Snyder-man sculpt with the blue suit. I always intended on leaving the mask on the Rainman sculpt to use with the gurney get up. For those purposes this set is decent. A true great likeness shines right through masks and make-up like HT Keaton Bats, HT Avengers Cap, Beto's Beetlejuice amongst several others. Even with the mask on this still doesn't look like Lecter (but we knew that from the promos) but I plan on getting a gurney to round this off and the whole finished package (gurney get up) will be good enough for my purposes.
GURNEY GEAR:
All in all the gurney gear is very good, not great. They didn’t include the yellow rim that goes around the collar. The sleeves are a little wide and the overall cut a little big which makes it a bit wonky but it’s adjustable and futzable. I think a fit that is closer to the Medicom version is better. The pant legs could have been slightly baggier too (although I know that can be tricky to be made look right in 1/6). If you can get this weathered up the right way I think it will add a lot of points to it.
BLUE SUIT:
Personally I love this suit! It fits pretty well and with the right padding/fat suit it can look awesome. It’s simple but very effective and accurate (aside from the cuff detail. The screen used has a Velcro type strap and Iminime’s has a button but it’s not a big deal to me). This is my favorite part of the set!
SCULPT & PAINT:
It doesn’t pay to talk about likeness because whoever bought this saw all of the promo pics so we knew what we were buying. I will say that not having a bald spot is a major missed detail; this is something that was talked about early on and could’ve been addressed. Paint-wise I personally think that this is towards the bottom of the totem pole for Iminime. This really isn’t as good as the other Iminime figs that I have (excluding Smith). The hair is too dark as there should’ve been a lot more grey/silver highlights mixed in.
MASK:
They actually got a lot of details right on this; the holes, nose detail and mouth prongs are all perfect (the Medi version has 4 prongs which is wrong). I think that the straps are pretty good quality and the metal buckles are a nice touch and a quality detail. I know that some guys are having trouble with their fit but mine goes on fairly easily with the right pinching and pushing. As Ray has mentioned the shape isn’t 100% but it personally doesn’t bother me. Collectively the mask looks good in these aspects. What does bother me is the lack of weathering (since it was one of the main things that drew me in from the promos) and the color is completely off! These are the type of things that I mentioned earlier. For the kind of money that these go for, simple and necessary details like this can’t be missed anymore.
BODY:
I never thought I’d say it but this KO body is surprisingly really pretty good. I’m guessing this is the V3? These have come a LONG way from the V1s. There is still a noticeable difference between these and the official TTs but it is so minuscule now it’s not really even that noteworthy. These KO’s are very acceptable!!
FAT SUIT:
I hate to say it but I have a major problem with this (partly because I bought 3 extras). At this price point making fat suits or similar applications to replicate a character’s physique is necessary; but it feels like this was thrown together just to fill that necessity. It really feels like zero thought was put into the design for this. The shoulders are way too wide which almost makes him look like he’s wearing Football gear. The midsection has a female’s hour glass taper which defeats half of the purpose for this. You can’t mimic a male’s fat midsection if the curves are going in the wrong direction! It’s quite disappointing and doesn’t make sense why a collector like me can easily envision what a fat suit that works should look like but the professionals that do this for a living came up with such a poor design. More thought and research really has to go into this kind of stuff.
For anyone who is looking for a great alternative I strongly recommend the DID Patton fat suit, it has perfect Lector proportions:

The only issue with it is it doesn’t act as a full tee shirt so it doesn’t cover the neck connector (the scoop is too low). I’m looking for a thin white tee to go over the fat suit so it covers the connector and looks natural under the blue jumper. My crappy camera doesn’t convey proportions well so pics are senseless but I assure you that it’s a great choice for the blue suit. With a little extra padding you can really nail this body type:
Just a tip for those who aren’t aware of these
I’m a sucker for tailored fat suits because I feel that most homemade forms of stuffing a figure can be a little sloppy (if you repose often) and is sometimes harder to achieve a natural look. Tailored fat suits are much more controlled and set in position IMO. Sometimes they still need a little extra puffing up. As opposed to using cotton (which I feel sometimes has a mind of its own) I like to use these pads. IMO they are a much more controlled application. You can use as many as you need, fold them, cut them, scotch tape them to make pillows if necessary; they’ll fit in the space you need and maintain the shape you want.
