Actually no, it's not that simple when budget is a factor. If the information is known, that'd help me a lot in terms of deciding what I'd be down for and in making sure I have the available funds when the PO goes up. If the reveal is in advance of the PO, that changes things, but if it's at the same time, or near enough the same time, that doesn't leave a lot of time to make a decision.

And the fact that Iminime often makes substantial changes after pre-orders go up add another reason why it isn't that simple at all. Lector, Ripley, Somerset, Durden, the Matrix guys, and others have had this happen. It's all done in the interest of making a product collectors want more, but still. . .you don't always know what you're getting when Iminime reveals go up. In fact, the norm seems to be that you get changes. Sometimes substantial ones.

Interestingly, if everyone shared your attitude then there wouldn't have been many changes to those figures where changes were made. Denny has listened to the vocal complaints by potential customers in the past, including those by Wake, that have led to the changes you defend and have benefited from. So. . .

It's not a maybe at all because these no name Playtoy guys pulled it off and I'm sure their production numbers are probably like BP's, in the 250-400 range.
It can't be an impossibility because real metal was used in other sets already; in Bateman's case some very thick pieces of metal. I understand the budget has to be respected, so what gets it done? Money? I'm sure people would be willing to spend more for a real deal sword; people will just end up spending another $150 anyway on someone's "after the fact" offering.
I think the decal done the right way could be convincing enough.

Got ya; I understand how the stamp can be a toughy. Maybe the decal idea is the way to go. IDK how that would look but if it's believable, that's a nice easy way to get it accomplished.
I thought that you said the metal blade was a no-go though. Not only has that basically become the standard (Baby Doll, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, even this Play Toy fig...) but its her one and only accessory! I know that the options for outfits are there and the helmet is available, but a proper sword is very necessary, not just for the character, but to be part of a high end custom set. The sword is more important then the outfit options IMO.
I'm sure if people are willing to pay more that would help Denny stay within budget. I approached fullmetal and Robbie to do a run of katanas for Morpheus. Both ended up coming in at $150 for a real metal blade, casted hilt, handle & scabbard, and then the handled wrapped in cloth; after that Robbie said that there's a possibility that he may even be able to do it for less. I also bought one of Captain HH's Ra's cane swords; real metal blade with a real wood handle and sheath for $150; and he made 5 of them.
We know the capability is there for a real blade but obviously cost and budget is an issue which is totally understandable. But this is the beauty of the producer and the customer being within reach of each other. If Denny runs a number by us that gets the blade included, the crowd can say who is willing to go that extra $$$, who is not, and he can make a decision from there. I mean people just begged RM to do Bickle to the fullest and basically said "if you do it to our expectations, we'll pay the necessary price". I'm sure people will go another $50 here to get this done to a high standard

IMO it was Space Trucker. The first sculpt shown was the best pt. 2 version we ever saw. Instead of trying to take a near perfect pt.2 and transforming it into a pt. 1, I think that it would've been better handled to redo the sculpt for the full set from scratch making a proper pt. 1, and offering the original sculpt separately. I know that offering sculpts alone were against Iminime's thinking at the time, but it's such a shame to have watched that original sculpt go up in smoke.
I'll take back part of what I previously said. The changes in the past didn't always improve sales. I do believe that every change to date aside from Space Trucker was an improvement, but in instances like Skipper, Lecter, and a few others, the little changes didn't make enough of a significant difference. There were a few instances that would've benefited more if they were handled like Tyler; a complete redo. Little changes just can't fix bigger issues.

Even the best cant nail it even single time round! Some sculptors just can't do certain actors/actresses no shame in it nobodys perfect
