So under McCain's "healthcare" plan, because I have a good plan through my employer I will see a tax increase under McCain, whereas I won't under Obama? (I don't quite make $250K a year). However the company I work for will have to pay more taxes under Obama. I can live with that.

Also I have to say that the childish posts in this thread aren't helping.

What gripes me also under the McCain plan is the taxes collected from those health care plans will go back to the insurance companies! Like they need more money!

You won't want to live with it when your company lays everyone off.

Obama's UHC Plan will either bankrupt Corporate America (if they force higher taxes down the throats of employers) or bankrupt the U.S. Budget (if the government socializes it). It's a poison pill, either way. And the quality of health care will also plummet. No thanks.

McCain's plan is pretty crappy, too. Only slightly better, because it's at least aware that we live with a free market economy and not in a socialist state.

There are much better alternatives than either of these doomed plans.

I say we all move to Amsterdam. I think have a socialistic view as well, but at least we can get stoned and not go to jail for it.

I'm afraid I don't get this particular gripe. The taxes would go toward giving people a tax credit. Yes, the intended purpose is for the money be used to offset insurance cost, but how exactly does that benefit insurance companies (beyond what they are already receiving)? The theory of the plan is that either a) people are already paying health insurance premiums/deductibles/co-payments anyway, and this would simply make it less of a burden, or b) people can't afford the cost of health insurance, and this would (again, theoretically) enable them to do so.

I'm not saying that I agree with the plan or the tax burden it would create, but any plan that doesn't socialize health care is going to result in people paying premiums.

Would you rather have the government send everyone a check? Because I can guarantee that under that plan most of the uninsured would still be uninsured (i.e., they would spend the money on other things besides health insurance).

You miss the point entirely. The cost isn't the main issue. How healthcare will be delivered is. Of course, the Obama spin doesn't tell you this.

It'll be interesting to see what happens when the Obama Kool-Aid turns into Anti-freeze. He's really duping a ton of people. It's frightening.
