I just hope they fix the eye color; too much red and his eyes/eyebrows aren't dark enough. He should look more like DekeStarkiller's modification.

I'm in the "something's off" crowd on this one. Most of the head sculpt is perfect but I do think the eyes are just a hair too small and not bug-eyed enough. I'd like to order two of this release, one exclusive Mace Windu and one regular version so I can customize him into Jules from Pulp Fiction. :D
But it's definitely the closest 1/6 Sam Jackson head sculpt I've ever seen!

I am pleased that this is the new figure, I will certainly order him! If the exclusive is truly "Jango Fett's" severed head then this will be the exclusive that I look forward too the most!

I am not worried about the likeness, I am sure they will fix it in time.

As for the next figure...

I will guess Ep. V "Cloud City Leia" and if not then Ep. I "Qui Gon Jinn".

Anyone who isn't is "slightly off". It's not hard to see that this needs paint work. :banghead
The paint does need more precise work, but I was referring specifically to the sculpt. Even when the colors are adjusted, the likeness still looks a little off to me. I think the rest of the head sculpt is perfect though.

It looks off to me in the pic as well - but so did Luke, Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Han(I always liked Kit). I don't know what process Sideshow uses to choose their preview pic but somehow they always manage to choose the least representative one. The small pic in the newsletter looked far better.

When we see more photos I'm sure the vast majority of my concerns will evaporate.

While I want to say the other angles will help (and I'm sure they will) the eyes just aren't going to change. If Sideshow can make the final figure look more like FilthyJawas slight modification, it really will feel like Samuel himself is looking right back at you.

Any bets on the exclusive?

I vote for a Jango Fett mini helmet...right after the decapitation.

I kind of hope not...they said no exclisives would be available with any other character, so if there is a Jango head as an ex. then we may not get a Jango in the future...

Or he may not come with a head..that would be cool..

Maybe the ex. should be an alt. head with a small fro, sideburns and mustache....or was that another movie:D :D

isn't it weird that the duncan highlander figure can have the kurgan severed head though? and yet sideshow still produced a kurgan figure.

True..didnt think about that..and my ex. Connor is sitting over my right shoulder right now...I am so ashamed:eek:

Jango's head remained in his helmet didn't it? So the helmet with a severed neck would be completely different than what would come with a full Jango.

Mace should come with an arm you can remove and an additional servered arm with light saber burn so we can pose him with Anakin and later hopefully Palapatine

Allow me to take this discussion to the next level. I say, there's nothing wrong with the sculpt. No sir. It's the actor. Don't get me wrong, I like the actor, but as Mace Windu, Samuel L. Jackson did not convince me. He can act better than he did in the prequels.

Lets go one step further.....He can only act as good as the director "directs" him. Given free reign Samuel L Jackson could have made that role a hole lot better...That said, I loved the prequels and am in no way hoping to open a debate on the quality (or lack of quality) of the prequels...

It could have been bad casting too...Samuel L. Jackson is not the type of actor to be cast as a Jedi...Think about Jewels or Shaft swinging a light saber around...just don't compute.....

I read somewhere that Sam Jackson actually has a science degree. I don't see why an actor of his caliber has to be typecast as anything. His Mace was a bit on the harsh side, and so not entirely likeable, but that was probably by design, considering the ultimate fate he had to meet. He had to have some character flaws to make it plausible for Anakin to strike him.

Anyway. I budged in last night, went to bed. Woke up to the newsletter and the new podcast (without a coupon! oh no!) But what I really like in the newsletter... is the little thumbnail image of Mace's headsculpt.

Andy is on record saying that the preview pic doesn't do his sculpt full justice, and the little thumbnail looks just completely right. Check it out for yourself; I have no fears for this sculpt, none whatsoever. (Well, apart from my wallet status. But that goes without saying.)

not that it matters...but Anakin didn't need someone to have character flaws to strike them down....he killed younglings....
