Well anyone that knows Ink should not be surprised by his comment....Is he a SSC fan boy of course, but he does tell it like it is most of the time and people have been warned in the past with dealing with third party situations and many have been burned before and will get burned in the future.
If you are wanting to do the risk make sure you use a person that's been around for along time with a proven track record and even then sometimes it can be costly. I for one do not pay for pieces up front and put down minimal deposits so even if I do get stung it's not going to be in the $10000 range ever....If someone is going to give that kind of money to someone then they certainly need to assume some if not most of the risk....So for those worried about a comment about someone you don't even know....Go to your safe place immediately......

Brilliant stuff. Is any of this really necessary though? Some foreign POS made off with 5 figures worth of cash like a bandit, who apparently was legit for a while before going haywire, and you guys are spending more time ragging on the dudes that got ripped off. I'm not saying those guys were smart throwing money at some out of continent middleman...it's risky stuff and I wouldn't do it, but come on. You even have a less-than-impartial fanboy moderator coming out of the woodwork just to bag on them too? For ****'s sake.

This isn't about snowflakes or safe places..cut that nonsense out. It's about collectors getting ripped off by lowlifes and rather than piss on those poor saps that got conned, instead let this serve as a warning for anyone wanting to import and collect these statues. It's risky business and collectors need to get smart and take heed when getting involved in stuff like this.

That's the thing ..... Like Ink, Myself and Quad stated, this is NOT a new issue. There are countless horror stories and even threads on this very forum. It is not uncommon for people to do this same scam. It happens on eBay all the time as well so beware there also. People will sell 25-35 items at low value ($5-20). Then all of the sudden they come into a large stock of rare stuff 50-100 items at $50-100 a piece. Since people see they have 25 positive feedback and its recent they buy in hook line and sinker. Lots of scam artists out there ...... I got scammed out of $940 on eBay when I was 16. Won't let them happen again. Just buy from reputable sellers, websites or forum users. It just isn't worth the risk as seen here .

As I stated we were telling about something we heard or seen going on, it is utterly pointless to say "you should have known better" when none of us were hurt by this. We are discussing it to spread more awareness. So while it is not a NEW issues there are people NEW to this hobby.

Not if they file bankruptcy, that money is gone. A retailer in New England or Maine scammed a ton of people years ago when Bowen was at it's height...people tried, but the money was long gone
