The p1 page is taking polls down. So glad I saved them. One is still up. For now.

I didn't care for the statue's pointless backwall, so I passed on the OG.
This one I like more, and glad I don't have to pay double SRP to get one.

This is nothing new for P1, but at least in the past they changed the pose, color or accessories. It kinda sucks for those who have the OG, but I'm not angry about getting to own the copy edition.

Not everyone has the financial means, or a place to store a piece like this, during pre-order periods. Glad you're well off.
So every statue should be re cast and re released incase people weren't ready at that time? Okay I'll take a sideshow 1/4 queen alien bust while we are at it.
See how silly that sounds?

You're not mad because you're only in it for yourself. Just wait until their quality dips so low because people keep giving them money for shady company decisions.

Most people are.

I think it's more a matter of if the opportunity presents itself and one doesn't have to put up with actual recasters (who consistently sell crappy, deformed castings with bad paint jobs), they'll take advantage of it. The ethics of Prime 1's decisions are questionable, yes, but the statue's already up for order. It's happening no matter what. So if you really, really want the best mass-produced Alien statue ever made, are you going to pay aftermarket prices for the first release, wait for truly illegal recasts from a third party, or pay MSRP through the original manufacturer?

This is setting aside the fact that polystone is a cheap, brittle material and Prime 1's QC has been hit-or-miss anyway. Quality-wise it's always going to be a gamble with this company, but I can see why people would prefer taking their chances with the reissue over the first two options.

I guess the nobler fourth option is sitting out entirely, but people prioritize their values differently. Can't shame them into changing. Society has tried that with much more important issues than statues in the last several years and failed. Look at how many folks still support Amazon. If buying an officially reissued statue is where people choose to leave their morals at the door, well, they could do a lot worse.

I've still got the Jungle Hunter on order and if it's a dud, I'll cancel. I'm well-aware the NRD pays for the chance to own the ultimate Predator piece, rather than a guarantee. I'm also prepared for it to be an extremely common item. It's not an ideal situation, but having understood the risk, I've budgeted accordingly and have contingency plans. Not like I'm buying much else in this hobby. My collection is smaller than it's ever been.

Unrelated to your particular post, but it's a sobering read and I keep bringing it up so I might as well share the link. For those who still think this stuff is cheap, check this out:
http://www.statueforum.com/showpost.php?p=6045304&postcount=34I know folks who've owned their own collectible companies and failed in the last few years, they can attest to this as well. I'll grant that Prime 1 is more willing than others to raise their prices (in some cases higher than necessary), but the manufacturing realities they're reacting to are indeed realities.

This is a full on scumbag move by Prime 1 and I'm not even surprised, that's who they are now sadly. Many of us paid over the odds to get this one, and had to accept flawed statues to keep hold of them. Even Mine has issues and I was one of the lucky ones. If Prime 1 want to sell multiple versions of the same statue, that's fine, but they should all be announced at the same time so that people can choose the one they want. Not right after the first run has sold out so that they can try and swindle every penny they can get.

I have no issue with more people enjoying something, this is indeed a fantastic statue, but it's their fault they made the ES too small, they shouldn't just be able to re start another on a whim. I've committed 5k to their 1/3 JH, it being somewhat limited helps make that commitment feel a bit better somehow. Now I'm wondering if they will just make more whenever they want, what's the point any more. Like it or not ES numbers have always been a part of this hobby. I missed out on the Dog, but they definitely shouldn't be making more of them! I actually would have gone for this version as I never liked the wall. Fortunately when it actually arrived and I saw it all in person, that opinion quickly changed. The wall adds a lot so I am happy to have it at least.

Being stoked to get this recast when it's on the necks of others seems impertinent.
Being mad at people seems exhausting.

If I had a nickel for every time others did right by themselves without my approval, I'd have already ordered the 1/3 City Hunter and commissioned someone to make a cooler base for it. But here I am with no 1/3 City Hunter. And ulcers instead of nickels.

The same could be said for the opposite side of the argument. People who don't want others to have one are only in it for themselves.

I'm not saying it's ideal, but people should invest in crypto if they want to make a quick buck or get custom pieces if all they want is exclusivity.
