I worry about any piece with a large ES. I just got my P1 Goku and the eyes on the exclusive portraits are messed up; air bubbles, paint flaking etc. This issue is rampant.

The 1/3 Predator guaranteed will have problems.

Oh I'm sure there will be issues. Especially with the size of numbers they are doing. But they will make so much money off of it. The collectors that praise a good piece are the ones that have made p1 what it is. Issue is there are so many new collectors that think because everyone else says p1 is great they over looks questionable practices.

Well there is always hope to have another company respect the limited edition collectors.
mamegyorai made this one exclusively for Japan. Good thing is other companies will hopefully and finally come out with the Rambaldi design head.
This thing has the springs in the mouth and everything for detailed accuracy.

I've been hard-pressed to find a dealer that will ship this to the USA. jaklynfiorhollyw, have you had any success with this one?

I have a friend in Japan that I could message. You have to do it through someone who lives there and have them send it to you

Oof, just checked the FB group. You weren't kidding, the eyes on those are terrible. Is that bubbling something that would've been obvious at the factory or could it have developed in the packaging over time? Sounds like a huge ES on the Goku, hopefully that means they'll have replacements for folks.

The 1/3 Predator is something I worry more and more about every week. A head can be repainted, but if the body has issues, that's far too much trouble to deal with and I'll stick with the busts.

Goes without saying that there's no reason to order P1 direct anymore. Sure, you'll get your piece sooner. Sure, you may even be able to contact them with a problem before they run out of replacements. But if you run into any obstacles at all, you're screwed. Too great a risk, I'd rather order through a retailer that has my back. Even if the statue is a dud and I have to send it back, at least they'll cover the return so I stay whole.

The goku issues are terrible. I mean it seems to be eyes and body. That's rough. I feel so bad for people who open up something they have been waiting on to see it like that. It's why I'm so irritated by how they treated people after when it came to the big chap. Mine is fine but I also know if they don't hear what needs to be heard every piece could have these issues.

Off the top of my head if the bubbling is to the paint work it sounds like it could be an issue with the releasing agent that would have been applied to the moulds to allow them to peel away from the casting. If the agent isn't removed thoroughly with a degreaser/alcohol solution then the result is paint that won't adhere to the surface of the statue. This hints at the production being rushed or worse still certain steps being skipped. That's just a theory though and one possible explanation.

What a d@@k move by P1. Can you imagine if Hasbro's Sail Barge started showing up at Walmart with a different base and cheaper than the Haslab a couple months after release? That would be a kick in the nuts to the backers. If they are going to put an ES size on the statue they should stick to it or what's the point? P1 made this exclusive and then reissued it anyways. No matter how you look at it, they are screwing the buyers who got in the first go around.

I wouldn't doubt for a second that they won't do the same thing with the 1:3 Jungle Hunter at this point. Let the first round of buyers be the guanine pigs and discover all of the QC issues, then recast it again a few months after those have all sold with those QC issues addressed for cheaper.

At least they made some changes this time instead of a straight repaint.

But with the batmen, they didn't redesign and improve the original. They are variants. Big Chap is a 'we got it right this time' re-release on the heels of the original.

Exactly. As far as I'm aware, the Batman piece wasn't plagued with breakages as a fault of P1, major design flaws and no replacements made available to customers.

they made it half the weight too the reissue!
one box and prob easier to pack and easier to find a place to keep it.
im still having issues finding a small but deep enough side table that can take 30KG!

I still don't understand why they made that one a Japan only release. I'd have loved to get one.

The issue regarding damages, I wholeheartedly agree with. However, the minimalistic take on the Alien's new release is basically without the environment.

To me, it falls in the same category as the Optimus'ssss....

Every one of your examples show the character (the main point of a statue) having a very different pose. The Big Chap recast however is quite literally the SAME statue, SAME paint, only a different base. Like everyone said, if the Big Chap was a different sculpt this wouldn't be so much an issue. So no, your comparison does not fall under the same category.
