Yeah that was an annoyance.... but if you think about it, they would most likely have been cgi otherwise, and nobody wins in that case. Apart from the cgi monkeys who get paid to do it.

Um, doesn't have to be CGI. Prosthetics or appliances could have been used. They make Alien and Predator masks. Why not for the Jockeys?

I agree, but we aren't usually that lucky, CGI is the go too tool now unfortunately, fine with starships and what not... but not organic characters still. A full size Engineer would be a heck of a suit lol.

Ordered.
I can see why a lot dislike this particular piece. The price is steep (I paid for half of it using reward points) and its not too big. But I have to be honest, with SS's recent streak I thought this thing was going to be 17" tall and sell for $450. I was surprised that it was listed at 22" tall. (Still, I do wish it was somewhere around 26").

I actually like the pose...its awkward which I believe matches the alien nature of the character. Its hard to explain but it seems right to me.

it's an ok piece. not too impressed with it but it's also not that horrible. i'll be passing though as it's not the exact rendition of the engineer that I wanted.

I like everything about it except for not being able to put the helmet on. The size and pose aren't a problem for me. Just that damn human face!

spent some time looking at the pics today because my wife said "oh wow, looks cool." I gotta admit the detail is really nice on him but I still cant get over the legs together.

They filmed LOTR with Gandalf to be much larger than the hobbits.

That's 22" with the base. The statue itself is actually closer to the number you were worried about.

You know what would be epic IMO? A full-scale version of the exclusive mask, exactly the way they have it displayed. Might have to do some reinforcing to hold it up or make the mask itself lighter because of the size but I would freaking kill to have that. It's gorgeous.

Maybe we're being too harsh on this... it does look fantastic and the paint looks top notch. But 1/5? I just can't get over that. Whoever decided on 1/5 should be fired. :slap

Conveniently left out that it's 1:5 in the product description I see :rolleyes2

Yup, and they also decided to drop the EX. It would have gone well with this piece and makes sense because of the pose:

Product size is not always in the product description for every single piece (Dr. Doom, T-800 PF, Spiderman Comiquette have no mention of 1/2, 1/4, 1/5 in their descriptions for example). The height details are displayed on the product page of course in the product details section (ei: 22 inches) for the Engineer.

Thanks :) but it should be included especially if the scale is not obvious like in a PF, Legendary Scale or Life Size.

I'm a HUGE fan of the movie, but I feel luke-warm about this statue. I wanted an Engineer as a companion to my Alien Big Chap Maquette, but it's 6 inches shorter and I just don't love the sculpt. AND you should really be able to put that helmet on him!

I'm holding off for now.

Do you think the 1/4 scale Premium Format will soon be obsolete? :-/ with rising costs etc I'm sure it would affect accurate and high end tailoring for the clothing etc. There seems to be a lot more 1/5 scale statues coming out now. Kind of makes me change my mind about only collecting PFs and selling off my 1/5ths :-/
