Yeah, in Australia I remeber that when the PS3 launched it was around the $900-1000 AUD. Guttstomper for me, I was planning to get so much games and etc this year.

Your right, but I was just getting to the fact that a 4gb vid card would cost them way too much. But yes their are some for 800+

Whatever they get it won't be something that's straight off the shelf, they'll probably have a GPU based off of one of the cheaper GPU designs and add whatever amount of memory they decide on. It doesn't depend on the same costs as the PC hardware.

Yeah my PS3 got the yellow blinking light too.

It's amazing that my NES still functions to this day and we are so much more technologically advanced but they can't keep today's consoles from breaking by themselves.

Yeah and you'd think they'd have that in mind when building the damn things?

What good is it to spend $600 on a PS3 to have it break and be worthless a few years later?

The nature of the beast. The more complicated the technology, the more chances for problems. It's a fair trade off IMO.

Then a year or so later, they come out with a slimmer, quieter, cooler model. I tell ya', consoles aren't much of a cheap alternative to PC as one may think.

Yeah shame on me for paying hundreds of dollars for something and actually expecting it to work properly. What was I thinking?

Did you think that I was criticizing you? I was only stating the truth about technology. Do you disagree? Like you, I want and expect things to work for a long time, but I doubt we've seen the last of disasters like the 360 brick.

I am most excited by the fact that the internal aspects to both consoles will be more similar than not, so as to allow devs to make games cheaper, and more streamlined. All versions of a game for PS4 and Xbox 720 should be near identical...so no more crappy ports

That's a win for all gamers in the long run, and Sony's best move with the PS4, so far

Yea dont hold your breath hoping for these corporations being kind and giving backwards compatibility. I hate the trend toward digital fistribution on consoles because it feels like your leasing there games instead of being an owner since you gotta be connected to their system online just to verify licenses

Rumors on details about the next Xboxen are beginning to fly fast and furious, with an always-on Internet connection and Blu-ray drive being the latest. Edge cites sources with "first-hand experience" who rehash previously noted tech specs, but also mention the next Xbox will have an improved Kinect and an always-on internet connection to cut out the second-hand game market from the platform. The use of high-capacity Blu-ray discs seems a natural assumption since ... well, HD-DVD is no longer with us.

UK site VG247 (Microsoft UK must be a sieve) noted similar details to what Edge is putting out there last April.
