PS4 OR Xbox One?

The Move has been equally poor.

It's great on FPS (KZ3, HOTD & Bioshock Infinite) but everything else is a gimmick

Motion control should just be left out of gaming!

I still haven't picked up a PS Move, and don't intend to do it any time soon. I considered picking one up for Rising and Okami. But, those games are so fast paced, that it's more effective to just use your fingers to tap on the buttons and initiate the combos.

I think things like touching your temple to activate night vision sound really cool plus all the other rumored uses. The potential is massive. Making the entire body your controller through subtle movements or voice commands sounds easier than flicking through a menu to me. I guess I'm just a little more open minded to the possibilities. They have barely scratched the surface.

I know, but look how kinect and move work right now, it's painful, I can almost bet that the next kinect will be just as bad, we're just not there yet.

What's more subtle than a thumb movement? Voice command? I'm sure they basically require the same amount of muscles.

I'm opened to the possibilities, but I just don't want most of those gimmicks in my gaming.

I have played both Move and Kinect, awful, just awful.

The wii-mote is very fun to play with friends though.

You haven't actually read anything about the Xbox 1 have you.

Reading some of the comments, the button problems (especially on FPS) could be eradicated. PC gamers are always banging on about how much more control they have over a pad and this is definitely one solution to the problem.

A simple voice command or twitch of a finger could be enough to activate the desired option.

I have read about it, but from theory to practicality there's a long way in this matter, but let's see how it turns out..

"Xbox on"--- *turns on---"Play FIFA"---Calling Lisa---"NO! I said PLAY FIFA"--- Opening Youporn.com --- "Oh, ok" --- There has been an unexpected problem with internet explorer --- "FUUUUU"

Although I disagree about having more control on mouse&key than with a controller, I'm a CS veteran and I can tell you that they're just different techniques for each controller.

^Exactly. It might look good on paper (in fact, everything sort of looks good on paper ). But, when it comes to practical applications, it's left to be seen.

I believe that the success of Xbox One's motion control will be dictated by third-party developers, and whether they choose to incorporate those kind of features or not. It's likely the case, that if they're just porting games between the PS4 and Xbox One (and vice versa) - they'll just leave out motion control, in favor of a more traditional gaming experience, that involves typical button mashing on the controllers.

100% genuine here. I'd like to hear the strong reasons for choosing the PS4 over the Xbox.

The only reason I seem to be siding (very slightly) with X-box is that it seems to offer more than just games, which could be equally as good on both systems.

That's the thing, anybody choosing the PS4 is so confident, they don't even feel the need to defend their choice, that's not to say this is a right or wrong matter, mostly taste....

For me it's simple, you own your games, you have no restrictions, I like PS4's exclusives better, it's cheaper, it's more powerful, I don't want all the "home media center" gimmicks that add absolutely nothing to the gaming experience and will most likely get in the way, and I don't want mandatory always connected motion controller, etc etc

I just want good ol' gaming, simple, unpretentious, good story telling, great gameplay, to have full control in both my thumbs...

That's something the PS4 is providing in full length and the XB1 isn't, so far (except for the gameplay part, they do have a couple games so far that I think they're pretty cool)-

These are good reasons but nothing that jumps out at me in particular apart from the "It's more powerful" which even then we won't know until we see the software. I guess I might have answered my own question there though. It will depend on the software.

Owning games - I will own the games on both systems - I keep them.

Cheaper - In Australia they will be almost the same - perhaps $50 difference even then price is not a real deciding factor - for me.

Exclusives - Much the same, cool games on both systems although from what I hear the XB1 has potentially more (this might only be on release though)

Restrictions - I only play my console at home.

It genuinely is a little bit of a tough choice until I see some jaw dropping cool games on either system or next level technology in place.

Both systems have comparable specifications, and DRM is the biggest issue right now. Even if you don't mind downloading all of your games and the 24 hour check-in, you'll still have to consider that Microsoft hasn't been totally clear on how they plan to distribute their games. By going the route of DRM, they've irritated major retailers such as Gamestop, that specialize in selling used games. With that said, Gamestop hardly sells PC games anymore because of distribution on Steam.

Now, the PC was never as popular as the consoles, but I can't possibly see how going the full route of DRM is a good move by Microsoft. Many consumers like to make their purchases in-store, and if they visit somewhere (such as a Gamestop) that doesn't have X-Box One games on display, but PS4 and Wii games, instead - then, they'll end up purchasing those games.

So, the potential of poor sales from DRM might also work in such a way as to hinder the possible growth of the Xbox One. I don't want to paint a picture of doom-and-gloom (as it might not be the case), but you'll also have to consider the longevity of this console in retail.

You also might not find as many sales or deals on a lot of downloaded games, as you would for physical media. Unless Microsoft incorporates a retail system comparable to Steam - where new games are frequently discounted below $10. I highly doubt that they'll do this, though.

Again though I'm reading the DRM issues will be for exclusives only. The multi platform games will be up to the publisher on both platforms.

Both systems could equally end up the same in that regard.

PS4 will have non gaming features as well, like Netflix and what have you it's just not the focus, Sony tried that with the PS3 and seemed to forget they needed games at launch and it backfired on them.

This console generation regardless of which system you get is shaping up better for launch then the last one where it took forever to get good games.

Microsoft really want's to be the center of your entertainment universe, Sony wants to be a game console with media features just not as many as Microsoft.

Sony has far better 1st party games than Microsoft. But we wont likely see the jaw dropping exclusives until a year down the line.

PS4 being more powerful its likely multiplats will look better on PS4 too. Its $100 dollars cheaper, Its smaller. PS+ gets you free games, i could keep going.

If you wanna get an Xbox then get it, no one is telling you dont.

I don't want anything. As I keep mentioning I'm weighing up the options from a neutral point of view. I own both systems and have went from one to the other my entire life (Atari/Sega/Nintendo/PS/MS)

I described my situation before, I'm positive that I can't be the only gamer that works full time, has an internet connection and does not care about trading games - which makes most of the negativity circling the XB1 a non-issue.

I may still easily go for the PS4. I also disagree about the exclusive title's. XB1 seems to have much more attractive launch titles. Killer Instinct in particular looks very promising being a fighting game fan.

The day is going to come when somebody hacks Microsofts servers to make a point about offline gaming and the lack of needing to log in. People are going to sit for a week only being able to watch blu rays.
