While the Kinect could be used for game chat YES I very highly doubt there will be no other option it might just not be free this time. And how good did the PS3 headset work it came with? And does the PS4 come with a free headset?

Like I said, it's not a big deal, but them trying to say the Kinect is a good substitute is ridiculous.

I wonder what file systems each system will be compatible with. Being x86 based they should hopefully support NTFS. The FAT32 limitation in the current generation really sucked. I couldn't copy any hi def movies greater than a 4GB file on to external hardrive for use on my PS3 due to the FAT32 limitation.

I would expect the PS4 to still be compatible with bluetooth headsets. I don't think I'll use the headset that comes with it. I prefer not to be tethered to the controller. I hate wires.

I just managed to swap over my deposit from the Ps4 to the One. I'm hoping to get both on launch but that all depends on me getting work as quit my job buy hopefully all should be good. If not I'm screwed all round I guess

Yeah there not going to be any good anyway. I use Astro A50, best gaming headset I've ever used. I used to own the A40's but like you I found the wires annoying.

I wonder if the PS4 controller will have a cord longer than 6 inches. Always hated that. Play and charge feature is awesome, but it's useless if I have to sit on the floor in front of the system.

Read yesterday that PS4 is compatible with PS3 headsets while X1 is not compatible with 360 headsets.
I also read today that PS4 was initially going to have their camera included and would have been same price as X1 but Sony decided to cut it out and chop $100 off the price. Smart move!
Currently I'm leaning towards dropping my X1 pre-order and just going with the PS4 for now until they make a Gears for X1. I can live without Halo and that's the only other exclusive I really care somewhat about. But fortunately I don't have to decide yet.

On a board that contains people who spend a hundred bucks on a one inch head sculpt of Arnold Schwarzenegger for their $350 12 inch dolly's (that they already have a different version of) I find it hard to believe a $100 is a problem

That's probably true for the most part. Though, if HT tried to charge an extra $100 for a crappy looking accessory or head sculpt most people don't like, it would be equally lame.

That's where most people are falling down I think. It's a vast improvement on the old gear and also has the potential to introduce some really high tech (read about the Illumiroom) innovations down the line.
For a hundred bucks (one game?) It's not a deal breaker for me. The PS3 was from memory $200 more than the original Xbox that had a Blu Ray which "I don't need" (I remember that being the common comment at the time).
People still bought the PS3

Well the Xbox better not be priced at more than $399 !! ....wait hold on for a sec....sorry had to zip over to the customs forum to make sure I get a $600 Blondie figure. I bought two so I could display hat on and hat off versions ..... what were we talking about?
