On a board that contains people who spend a hundred bucks on a one inch head sculpt of Arnold Schwarzenegger for their $350 12 inch dolly's (that they already have a different version of) I find it hard to believe a $100 is a problem :lol

I don't think the $100 is the main issue but rather being forced to pay $100 more for something that many probably don't want.

This is true although I'd argue that some of the people interested in the Xbox are also interested in the future of the Kinetic tech (I am). I'm not sure if you read the article in the other thread but PS4 basically cut the Eye only to beat the XB1 in price.

Where XB1 might shine is that everyone experiences these new features (like it or not) and no extra gear will ever be needed if they do make some big leaps and bounds. Simple updates will ensure a large market for future upgrades since everyone is on the same page.

PS4 on the other hand will find it hard to pull anyone onto the Eye at all. It will be left as a gimmic on that system.

I'd argue it's a gimmick on either system. I'm biased though. I hate motion controls of all types. That Sony has opted to make it optional makes it a win in my book. I'm sure you're right that some are interested in the Kinect and or Eye though. I doubt I'll ever be one of them. It has before and still feels like steps in the wrong direction.

I don't like motion controls, period. To this day, I have still not picked up a PS Move, and I doubt that I'll even make use of a PS Eye - let alone, something like Kinect.

I'm still hoping that Microsoft will release some type of VR headset for the Xbox One, if they do that then they can do some pretty crazy stuff with that and Kinect. It's possible something like that could be announced next year. Some leaked documents from a few years ago indicated they were looking into doing that and releasing it a year after the console.

Like I've said many times comparing the old Kinect to the new one is like saying I prefer the Ps3 over the Ps4. It's brand new tech not purely based on movements.

I agree games that require movement on your behalf are gimmicky but some of the idea's and potential I'm reading about makes that $100 more attractive - for me. Things like the tap touch and the controller options as well as the windows and pausing seem like the next level of tech.

I'm willing to give it a shot. I may end up with both consoles anyway but the Eye will die IMO. Most people buying both won't bother with the add ons. Seems PS4 are quite content to make it a pure price battle. The may win the battle but looking at how popular the Wii became MS could have a bigger plan down the line.

For me, I want a system that I can play a game on using one controller with two hands. That's all I ask for. I had a Wii and sold it, it's not for me.

I did buy kinect a couple years ago but I don't think it's been used for at least the last year year (Wipeout was fun for a week :wacky). Also, it's not really that difficult and I don't mind pressing a couple buttons on a controller to log into my account. I don't need to talk to my machine or have it recognize me when I walk into a room.

The 360 had a year head start on the PS3 and by the end (based on reported sales figures?) Sony has sold more consoles to date. What's going to happen when Microsoft doesn't get that head start because their console is $100 more. I personally think they're overvaluing peoples desire for an all-in-one set top box. I get that they're trying to use the family angle but the Wii is so cheap most families would probably just get that. But what the hell do I know, I don't employ any people to do market research. :lol

That's the only reason I am still considering the X1. I can't quit that game, it had me at hello. :lol But at least I don't have to buy the X1 at launch if I don't want to. Honestly, if I knew that Epic was done with Gears and would never release another one, I probably would never buy the X1. I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Oh and the only other reason I'm still considering the X1 at launch is the 4800 reward zone bonus points ($60) that come with it since I preordered within 24 hours of it being listed.

the best thing Microsoft can do now is add a free xbox live subscription for a year in their bundle.

I heard that was a possibility and that would be a smart move. But even if they did, Sony could follow suit and then it would be status quo.

It still sucks that the X1 doesn't come with a headset. It wouldn't bother me so much if you could still use a 360 headset with it.

I don't like the cheap ear bud headsets the PS4 comes with but at least they do include something. More importantly, I can still use my existing PS3 headset.

The Xbox 360 has more worldwide sales than PS3, it's like 76 million Xbox 360's to 70 million PS3's
They're very close in those numbers, though PS3 didn't actually start making money off the console until much later in the console life.

Are you trying to tell me you can't trust Wikipedia? :slap :lol

I hate to say it but I think Gears as we knew it is done. Most of the people who made it have left epic for other things and if another one does come out I think the same people who made Judgement will make that one. And going by word of mouth not too many people have good things to say about Judgement.

Last gen I got the xbox system first and the PS a year later this gen it will be the PS4 and the xbox system will come at a date TBD. I will use the extra $100 I save to pick up Killzone. I will miss talking to peple over live but I guess I will take my Saturday night drunk ramblings over to PS+:lol

I could eventually end up with both, but I'm in no hurry.
Honestly, all the comparisons of the hardware/components are just there to make the geeks climax.

Actual player reviews of the launch games will determine which one I'll get first.
