Paypal is usually pretty good to work with. I use it a lot. I get an email every time I make a purchase or receive a payment, so if some shenanigans were to go on and I would find out almost immediately. Our business web site was hacked two years ago and some unauthorized charges happened on our card and they got us our money back and fixed the problem right away. As far as someone getting into your Paypal account with any information stolen, I think the only way they could is if you used the same password on the account as your PSN password and they got lucky and tried it.

Right now about the only things keeping me from trading in my PS3 for an XBOX 360 is the PS3 is our only Blu-Ray player and that I have several games I'd have to start completely over on, as well as the downloaded games I'd have to repurchase. If I wasn't able to get Netflix during this whole mess it would feel twice as bad.

PC gaming :lecture

No RROD, no down networks. Just better graphics and more players per server.

...and tweeking settings to get games to run, and updating your drivers, and upgrading your system every few years, and less game selection.

Takes just as long to install and download updates on the damn PS3. :gah::rotfl

Note to Sony:
When I put a game in the system I would like it to play. Thanks!

Tweaking? I do no tweaking! Set everything to max and let it run at 3x the framerate of consoles.

Drivers updates... takes about as much effort as logging in to PSN... oh wait.

And you don't have to upgrade to stay on top of consoles... if your system can outdo consoles now... it will continue to until the next generation (and possibly still)

PCs often do get enhanced versions of games, so a few games lost here and there, it's manageable.

:lecture Max your settings and update once a week while you sleep. 64 player BF2 with Jets = infinately cooler then anything on a console. Plus to quote George Costanza "theres porn".

Sony has yet to secure their networks (not just PSN), a month after the first big breach:

https://www.reuters.com/article/2011/05/13/us-sony-idUSTRE74C70420110513

(abridged)

(Reuters - May 13th) - Sony Corp's computer networks remain vulnerable to attack three weeks after the company learned that it had been victim of one of the biggest data breaches in history, according to an Internet security expert.

The expert found a handful of security flaws in Sony's networks while remotely studying its systems via the Internet to see how difficult it would be to penetrate the electronics giant's systems in the wake of the attacks.

Security researcher John Bumgarner discovered a potential bonanza for hackers by using little more than a web browser, Google's search engine and a basic understanding of Internet security systems.

"Sony still has several external security issues that need to be addressed," said Bumgarner, chief technology officer for the U.S. Cyber Consequences Unit, a research group funded by government and private sector grants that monitors Internet threats.

That's not what it said

The PSN isn't online, the guy was just saying that other Sony systems are still insecure and that there are major security holes.

Yeah, people have to learn to read. In any case, it looks like Sony is trying to fully secure their system before bringing the PSN back online. I'm glad that this information's been made public, so at least we know why it's taking so long.

Just better graphics

Thats true.

Just a shame games like Crysis wont even be on consoles due to them not being able to handle the demand of the game. Yet.

Also a pain. Sometimes drivers aren't even ready. Like Brink at the moment. It's a mess.

And DRM nonsense too.

Activation limits is a real drag.

So I just got my PS3 back from Sony after(supposedly) being repaired.

It wasn't.

They didn't fix it.

It turns on, but it doesn't read Blu-Rays. LMAO. Do they even check these things? Sony can **** off and die. I'll be purchasing a stand alone Blu-Ray player.

I am now officially a Sony hater. PSN...take your time.

Cool story bro. You were hating on Sony since you started posting in this thread. But, thanks for letting us know that it's now "official" :rotfl.

I can wait. The only thing I'm going to need PSN for is to download my L.A. Noire DLC, and even then, it's going to take a while to beat the game.

This is a thread discussing how PSN is offline. Did you expect people to post how enamored people are with Sony? :rotfl

That, and the fact that the thread itself is only weeks old, I'm not sure what you're expecting. I own a 360, a PS3, a Wii, and COUNTLESS other gaming systems. I call them as I see them.

I'm sorry if my dislike for them as a company bothers you(i.e. gets your panties in a bunch), but perhaps if they actually FIXED the system when I SENT IT TO THEM, they wouldn't draw so much ire.:rotfl
