Re: Django Unchained

I posted these to Hot Toys Facebook wall - I know that western figures aren't that popular - but COME ON!

Super excited

Saw these the other day, awesome!! My prediction Oscar for DiCaprio...QT is gonna get some performance out of him.

Agreed, but SO glad it was Daniel Day Lewis!

:exactly::exactly::exactly::exactly:

Yes that would be my prediction also. I really can't wait to see what we get from DiCaprio under Tarantinos direction :drool

I'm amazed at the performances that Tarantino is able to get from ALL his actors. It doesn't matter who is cast, they will always be good. I don't like Darryl Hannah at all, and yet she was great in Kill Bill.

And the fact that you two are probably right underscores the illegitimacy of the Oscars :lol It is purely a political/hype machine, where decisions can essentially be made before a film was even finished being made, much less released.

I'm legitimate :dunno :nana:

Jk

I hear you and years ago before all of the commercialization, the award probably meant more, but I'd still root for anything QT does since I love all of his films.

I'm with you on that. QT is great. And Leo, while not my favorite actor, is extremely solid and is bound to win an Oscar one of these days (probably a make up Oscar when they realize they didn't give him the award for an earlier performance that really maybe deserved it, but. . .).

Having said that, I'm not sure that the Oscars were ever that much more than what they are now. Woody Allen cared so little for the institution in the late '70s that he didn't even show up to get his best director award for Annie Hall. It isn't a merit-based award show, and hype/awareness/expectations dictate the results more than anything.

Re: Django Unchained

I would absolutely love some Hot toys figures of this movie. Especially of Dicaprio. He just looks so awesome in that pic. I've always wanted him to be in a Tarantino movie

I would never have doubts about Waltz and Leo, my concerns are with Foxx and those pics eased those concerns the most. He looks authentic, and as long as he doesn't have that cocky smarmy attitude he usually does throughout this will be amazing.

All the talk about Inglorious Basterds being Tarantino's masterpiece, I think with how long he's wanted to do a Western this should surpass it and definately give Pulp Fiction a run for it's money.
