I would never have doubts about Waltz and Leo, my concerns are with Foxx and those pics eased those concerns the most. He looks authentic, and as long as he doesn't have that cocky smarmy attitude he usually does throughout this will be amazing.

All the talk about Inglorious Basterds being Tarantino's masterpiece, I think with how long he's wanted to do a Western this should surpass it and definately give Pulp Fiction a run for it's money.

I think Foxx will be the surprise package here. Like you say we all know what we are going to get from DiCaprio and Waltz but I have a sneaky feeling Foxx will surprise us all.

IB will always be his masterpiece :monkey3

IB has some fantastic dialogue and shows how much Tarantino has grown, but Pulp Fiction defines him.

Either way were all lucky to have him making films the way he does, he's ever so slightly edged out Marty for me as the guy I most look forward to unveiling his next project.

Absolutely couldn't agree more.

The opening scene from IB is my favourite Tarantino moment :)

Waltz would probably be my favourite character from a Tarantino film also.

I love Tarantino. He truly has made a name for himself, and he's earned every bit of it. Of all of his films, the only one that I haven't seen in its entirety was Death Proof, and what I did see was fantastic. I think that what makes his films so appealing to me is the variety. Tarantino has cemented a certain style, if I could describe it in five words, it'd probably be "stylized, gratuitous action and story."

Some of his crazier films (sans personal bias) would sound borderline ridiculous on paper, but he makes it work. We've seen him make his homages to B-Movies, Grindhouse movies, and 70's exploitation films, but I'm not talking about Inglorious Basterds, Death Proof, and Kill Bill; I'm talking about all of his films. He borrows from various eras, and each of those eras shows through in his films. I think that's what I like about Tarantino's movies: even though he has his own style, he does films that are so different from his other work that you never feel like you're watching the same thing.

Django Unchained has suffered a double blow in the casting stakes, with both Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen dropping out of Quentin Tarantino's latest.

Russell is the second actor to leave the role of Ace Woody, having initially replaced Kevin Costner for the part. Costner had cited scheduling issues, but as yet, no reason has been given by Russell's camp for his departure.

Woody is one of the film's many villains, a ruthless trainer who pits various slaves against each other for the entertainment of the public. Could it be that the character is too controversial for A-list tastes, or is it purely coincidence that both Costner and Russell have dropped out?

Sacha Baron Cohen's departure seems a little more straightforward, with scheduling conflicts precluding his involvement. He was only earmarked for a cameo in any case, so his absence shouldn't rock the boat too much.

Meanwhile, QT still has plenty of acting talent at his disposal, with Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington and Samuel L. Jackson all set to star. Django Unchained opens in the UK on 18 January 2013.

I could not agree more... I think that may well be the single finest scene I have ever had the pleasure of viewing... Everything is absolutely perfect. The dialogue, the tension, the dramatic camera angles, the lighting, acting, it’s all flawless.

Dammit, I don't care about Cohen but Russell? Why? I was looking forward to him maybe more then anyone else, this really sucks.

There has to be something going on, Tarantino is one of the best directors working, you don't just ditch his project for some random other movie and three big actors now have, I wonder if they are having disagreements about elements of the script such as racism etc.

Maybe, like the article mentions, maybe the character is a bit too much for them :dunno

A bit much? I don't follow, do you mean their actions relating to slaves? Or just the work load, because neither actor is currently working on another project, Coen told Howard Stern he left to spend more time promoting the Dictator movie hes got coming out... seriously? I don't buy that for a second.

Woody was one of the film's main villains, it's a pretty huge deal if he did walk, didn't he read the script before he signed on? Costner didn't want this particular role either.

So far it maybe just rumor though, only Coen is confirmed as out, the rumor of Russel according one article actually originated on IMDB, so it could just be a load of ____. Supposedly Russell walked off the set stating the film wasn't "western enough", but again, the man surely read the script he would be portraying ahead of time, I just don't get it.

Coen was only gonna be a cameo so it won't be that big a deal.

Maybe the Woody character is a bit much in the way he is in the film, violent, racist and so on. Maybe they want him toned down a little but QT said no dice. Who knows. The news just came out so maybe someone will report some more info later. Does seem odd that two actors set to play the same character bails.

Well the rumor is that Coen walking was related to Russell walking, Coen buys Foxx's wife for Russell who sells her to DiCaprio. Again like you said Coen's role is minor and I don't care about that but if Russell read his script, it must be something more, Tarantino making changes on set or something, surely he knew what he'd be doing going in and that Tarantino would pull no punches related to Slavery in this one. Hell last time he worked with Quentin he played a sex crazed maniac who could only "get off" by murdering young girls in horrific car accidents so it's tough to imagine him suddenly being a moral orel.

So far it's only been "confirmed" that Russell is out from some guy at Variety while Coen said he was out on the Howard Stern show. Maybe (hopefully) it's just bullcuss :dunno

I couldn't really care about Cohen leaving, I don't really like him anyways. But I'm super bummed about Russel leaving, he's awesome and sounded like he would be the perfect actor for the role. Shame :(

Yes same as you guys, pretty bummed Russell has left. This Woody character has me intrigued now :lol

Word.

Which, as my good buddy Aaron says, is why it is his masterpiece. That's not to say Pulp isn't more iconic, cooler or instantly quotable as a landmark film.

Hrm. . .I would have to say that QT's best film is Jackie Brown. But IB is great. Opening scene pales in comparison to the opening of Once Upon A Time in the West, though.

I'm of the mind he hasn't yet made his masterpiece, and would rather not refer to anything as a temporary place holder.
