Question: When does a "collection" become "clutter"?

Actually, Devlinboy brings up a good point by dropping Destro into the equation. Now, if this guy had a house full of DESTRO stuff I'd move in immediately. :lol

From Dictionary.com:

Addiction:

The state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.

This PSA brought to you by the King of Beers - Budweiser! :google

Drink your toys everyone! :D

devlin can put some toys in his bong too

Speaking of which, during my days as Irrationally Obessessed SW Collector™ I almost purchased a Yoda bong that was for sale in a local headshop. :lol

But I did purchase the Star Wars condoms off eBay.

It certainly is a better analogy.

But even that analogy still has its limits/differences. Foremost, if you lose while gambling... there ain't no recouping your $$$$. And if you fail to pay your gambling debts... Lumpy and Whitey might pay you a visit and break a kneecap! (lol) But with a toy addiction... you could most likely recoup a significant part of what you spent (either to stablize yourself financially or to repay debts). Gosh... some people could actually come out ahead if they purchased wisely.
True, but if its an actual addiction you're not giving them up that easily. And what in the world is a Destro?

lmao star wars condoms, are u for real? thats insane!

And dude, a Yoda bong would be pimp! the wise one himself smoked some good shiz back in his days. nothing else to do on Dagobah.

i had a hulk bong back in the day. it was awesome. i also had a vader helmet made into a gas mask bong. that was the bomb. people would pass out from that one.

Unfortunately, yes:

I think I will leave these to the wife in the divorce (if I can even find them at this point). :lol

" i got my chick pregnant when my c3p0 condom busted. " thats funny, its almost worth owning them just to say that one day. "the force was strong with this one. "

This thread has piqued my interest. :D

I just read an interesting article from a journal that said that there are two types of addiction: 1) substance - i.e. alcohol, drugs etc 2) process - i.e. shopping, gambling etc.

Addiction to collecting anything (ie toys) certainly would fall under #2

And hey, I found this online. It's from a panel of experts on addiction who convened to discuss if playing video games can truly be considered an addiction:

"In lay terms, to understand addiction, it is useful to make this comparison: Passion versus Addiction.

Passion draws you to something; it increases the value of activities in your life; it increases your energy, your motivation, your creativity. You feel expanded, revitalized, and passionate. Addiction takes away from your life; it reduces your motivation to do things outside of the one activity. The hallmark of an addiction is that it takes away from your life. It makes you feel compulsively involved. You feel a compulsive desire to move towards that thing, where compulsion is being driven by some external thing rather than being driven by something internal; by your own internal creativity."
