Question: When does a "collection" become "clutter"?

No. Completely separate thing entirely.

Some of us did think he was originally referring to this thread, but no. Different guy, much different collection.

Yeah, even that Darklord guy was like: "What the **** is wrong with this dude?":monkey5:monkey5:monkey5

Umm... No. My reaction upon seeing this collection is that I think it's pretty impressive.

I think it's neatly displayed and features cohesively "themed" areas. I don't find it at all "cluttered" because the presentation is pretty neat.

I whole-heartedly congratulate this collector on his achievement.

Having said that, I actually agree with something (un-related to this collection) that KIT FISTO said earlier. I also dislike clutter immensely, and I find my home to have a more serene feeling when I maintain it neatly.

Admittedly, I am something of a "neat-freak"

As a matter of fact, one time, during a heated moment, my wife actually called me "...an anti-sceptic, Felix Unger, pain in the @ss..." (that's a direct quote).

my answer to the original question: "when the collection works its way into the bathroom it becomes clutter." as long as there is no collectibles in the ****ter you're ok.:lol

Is it too much? Yeah, but he it's his place so he can do as he pleases. I personally wouldn't go to that point but that's just me. Take a room or two and turn it into you collection display area but turning your whole house into that may be a bit much.

I'm going to quote myself here since I think relooking at everything I still feel the same. He's got a lot of cool stuff but its just too much for me.

You're kidding, right? The Odd Couple? Jack Lemmon in the movie, Tony Randall on TV for about 13 years? He's the neat obsessed freak in contrast to the slovenly Oscar Madison.

Yeah, Felix Unger... you know...

"On November 13th Felix Unger was asked to remove himself from his place of residence. That request came from his wife. Deep down, he knew she was right, but he also knew that someday he would return to her.

With nowehere else to go, he appeared at the home of his (childhood) friend Oscar Madison. Several years earlier, Madison's wife had thrown him out, requesting that he... never... return.

Can two divorced men share an apartment... without driving each other crazy?
"

Cue Music theme:

Da-da, da-da, da-daaah
Dat da-da, dat da-da, daaaah...

You... remember? And then Felix picks up Oscar's... discarded cigar butt... with the... tip of his umbrella...

Um, nevermind.:D

When does a "collection" become "clutter"? When you start collecting Star Wars. :lol

On a less comical note, it is only clutter when you recognize it as such. I'm a hoarder, so when they come and take me away I will know I have a problem that has to be dealt with, until then....

He's got quite the collection.
If that was just one room and it was for display only then it's fine.
But if that was a functional room that's a problem.
Get rid of the Trek crap...build a fire with it!
:chew

It becomes clutter when it starts to bug and overwhelm you.

One thing for sure, this guy is definitely single....

Check his single bed...Do you think a woman ever slept there... thats kinda sad and pathetic....

OPEN CHALLANGE!!!!!!

Some of us here (myself included) are condenming the notion of a cluttered space.

Well, my open challenge to those of us who feel that clutter sucks is this:

WITHOUT showing your collection room space, and without doing any tidying-up beforehand, take some pics of YOUR living space, whatever it may be (house, apartment, small room, car, cardboard box, whatever), and post them here on this forum so that we can all see how un-cluttered it is. Let's put our money where our mouths are.

This oughta be real interesting...

I'll start taking photos of my pad and post the pics in a day or so...
