Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I don't see the harm in getting a back up plan in place on the shades. I did say RM is going to look into it and hopefully work something out. In the event he can't, I don't see the problem in lining up a solution.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

For 800$ he better be sold with the shades :lol

Didn't he used metal etching for some of the metal pieces on the marty accessories?

Oh I think the back-up plan is great.

Its the additional comments that should be saved, imo, when things become official.

I'm happy Robbie's there to pick up the loose pieces and make the figures as complete as possible

Man you guys are getting into debates based on hypotheticals :lol

You guys are taking it to another level

Lol it's all about the hypotheticals!

Exactly. Just planning for what could be a possible outcome.

Nope no harm whatsoever :) I think it's a great idea Robbies accessories are another level and these would be no different. We'll just have to wait and see how it all pans out but I still strongly believe the shades should be included by Rainman hopefully he can work something out :)

Lol by all means save my comments ;) I realise it's still very possible Rainman will find a solution. If he doesnt we have Robbie who will be able to more than match the quality :). I still stick by my opinion they should be included by Rainman at 850 bucks. I also said I'm sure he'll find a solution and its all hypothetical :) nothing wrong with me voicing my opinion that some of these items could and in my mind should have been included by Rainman...

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Here is my take on Rainman's angle and this is only a speculation and more importantly only my opinion.

Rainman is a sculptor. He makes figures that he sculpts and gets cast. Looking at it only from this perspective, I can honestly say, I would be hesitant to offer these also. If I was only going to sculpt and cast them then they would be a problem to produce. The reason he could offer the ones for the custom is because not only do they not require a lens, but it was only one. I can make anyone here a one off of these glasses with little effort. But come up with a way to produce 30+ will be a challenge. 30-60 minutes for one is not a big deal. Times that by 30+ and that becomes a problem for production. Quantity only works when things are being cast or printed. 50 briefcases taught me this. The idea I have about photo-etching is a solution but finding some one that can offer the relative small number will probably negate the use of a professional company. The other option is doing it by hand which makes for a lot of trial and error. Another idea would maybe have them laser cut in plastic parts that can be glued and painted. This would probably be the cheapest option because the set up is easy. My concern for this would be the paint. I would be scared that it would transfer to the head.

I am not defending the choice on this but just would like people to see another possible side to the situation.

I completely understand where your coming from Robbie. I just hope either RM works something out, or if needs be you do. Travis without the Randolphs would be a massive shame!

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

Excellent points Robbie theres no way it would be easy to offer these at these quantities but I'm sure RM will find a way. As Teddy says there pretty important and would be a massive shame not to have them

I does help to fully understand the process.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I think it is a really nice sculpt, but I don't see a huge Deniro likeness there. He is hard to capture apparently. Seems like me and karamazov80 may be the only ones though!:lol

I am a huge Deniro fan (as I am sure all of us looking at this are!), and I just don't see the full likeness hit like Bill. I do think the first attempt is better than the second.

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

I prefer the first expression, maybe just lighting/angle but it looks more like De niro to me

Re: Rainman Artwork 2013 NYC Cabbie "God's Lonely Man"

The second sculpt looks better to me but I waiting to see a sculpt only unaltered the pic we have is pretty photoshopped and soft.
