Mags,
Anychance Rainman might be able to take another look at this? That wallet really needs work.

Bad Mutha Wallet should look more like this. The font is also better, it actually looks stitched in and is legible. This isn't even professional work and in all honesty it looks better :dunno:

Rainman's needs to be a bit more leathery tan, that peel away font is terrible. Even the shape of the wallet itself is off. These things need to be thought out better.

Didn't realize the revised HS was going to be shown tomorrow. Great news. I ordered the H+C and am sticking by it. Hopefully it will include at least one accessory (preferably Bad MoFo wallet).

He said on FB all sets will come with the Big Kahuna drink. Full set wallet.

I don't know if this is the worst I've seen a Rainman thread get, but it's up there. It seems like that sentiment you're referring to--treating Rainman like he's doing glorified mass commissions and not his own thing--has been growing and growing with each subsequent release. I've commented on this for, oh, years now :lol and I'm sure it all comes off like a broken record, but I do think there is some value in the genuine artistic quality Rainman brings to this, and I think there are limits to how much folks should be demanding that this or that should be changed from what Rainman envisions and produces. Otherwise, what about it is really an art creation anymore? The artistic and commercial pressures must be really tricky for him to wade through though.

Well put. I think if the push is too hard, it becomes less of
a RM figure and that's not the reason I buy RM items and
it shouldn't be anyone elses reason.

I really love the Jules figure though I agree that around the eyes it is a little off. Neat figure with cool accessories. Not $950 cool but cool. I don't think there's any chance of Rainman going to work for anyone else. He's making $35000 US, at least, per release. That's US dollars. Exchange rate puts that about 2.5 times in Korea. I can't imagine any toy company paying him anything near that per figure. His figures are so cool but I would definitely agree with the sentiment that when you pay this much for a figure, you want what you pay for. Every artist on this forum shows their work and takes constructive criticism to meet the customers needs and change things. Just like proofreading where a different set of eyes can show mistakes. I don't see Rainman being any different. The customer is always right. Especially when you pay this much and he makes this much.:duff

Just because someone pays a lot for something, doesn't mean
they should be void of tact or that they are always right.

And how far do we go? Wait until to many suggestions overturn the artistic value RM brings to a project and then it is no longer what RM
envisioned. Again, is that really something people want to accomplish?

Suggestions are good, the way they are presented a lot of time...not so good.
We should have someone who speaks korean and can
filter some of the lack of tact that often shows up. Someone
who can mediate by fielding PM and suggestions, putting a slight
filter on them and forwarding them to RM. Someone that knows
how to handle an artist.

Can't really oversimplfy what he makes by sales amount.
Do we know what his development cost is, his tailor cost is, his material cost and so on and so on.......then we don't really know
how much he is making or what his profit margin is.

And no matter how much someone is making from a project, if they feel its become too much, they will go away. I'm not trying to
scare anyone, but it's just human nature.

Man... People are worried Rainman is or will become a head case... He doesn't have a head made of eggshells where we need someone who can handle an artist lol.

I think most want as close to a screen accurate representation of the character rather than artistic interpretation of said character. :duh Nothing wrong with voicing opinion of how that can be improved. Hell, we wouldn't have gotten Tuco's extra coat or all the other improvements and tweaks to the various final products if no one spoke up. I think some perception of "demanding" is due to no inflection of posts and some hear it differently in their heads than was intended. Rainman is fine and has been doing this for years now and isn't as frail as some may imagine. :lol

I can't help to think of the Wolf...

"I think fast, I talk fast and I need you guys to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please... with sugar on top."

I thought Sideshow Freaks was a forum??? Are opinions, praise and criticism taboo? I don't think RM is that effected by what we say. He knows we are serious collectors and think he is amazing - we all tell him every single day! I'm sure an opinion on a sculpt or accessories etc won't cause an uproar in RM's world...

If we don't like it, and don't buy it, there will be no Rainman. He will go away very quickly as there will be no point in making figures that no one is buying... Production stops very quickly when your customers are not happy or not buying. It works both ways... Please your customers and you have sales....

I don't feel that anyone (short of Shadow) has been showing a lack of tact but since I've been the only overly vocal person about my disappointment of how the PF guys are playing out, I'll assume that I'm on your tactless list.

I don't want to get into a long back and forth but I will remind you of something. This is Rainman's business and despite what you may think he gets paid very well for his efforts. Despite what MANY may think, Rainman Artworks caters to the fans. The old frame of mind was that "things came out better when he picks his projects" but that whole mentality was built on false pretenses. He hasn't solely picked a project in at about 2 years since Stewart Little or Stansfield (I think he picked Wonka and Lucy too so that would be the 2 character he chose out of the last 12). (trimming the fat and summing up): I don't think he's only open to take suggestions on what character to do next and draws the line on suggestions on how to improve the piece.

As far as tact goes, if I came across rigid in any way I apologize to Rainman. I usually drop the hammer on those who express their opinions in a tactless fashion so I'd be the last to want to be perceived that way. No doubt my expectations for this line was(is) high and to a certain degree my disappointment was great, so it was a little hard to hold certain things in. :peace

Patience is key guys.. You can't have it both ways remember, you can't complain about the likeness being off because it is rushed and get impatient when he's not showing the revisions fast enough. Take a chill pill, let the guy work without the pressure, one two weeks, hell three months... I'd wait whatever it took to get it right.

Just a friendly reminder for a massive pet peeve of mine ;)

EDIT: I missed Magnus posting that it would be revealed soon, in that case the impatience is justified ;) lets hope it's an improvement.
