Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

I got a bunch of the "must have $1 to check out" error messages tonight, but ultimately got one in.

akj...do you have an issue with me...cause up until now I realize that you like to come and be the RM save a hoe type....

Regarding his site inefficiency now...while I'm sure he has known the issues with his ordering for a while now...he still hasn't done anything to fix that...so yes...I will keep on reminding him about at every chance I get SPECIALLY when it effected my order....as it did tonight of all nights...so unless YOU have a legitimate reason other then the "oh stop it it's RM and I adore him" lines...don't say anything to me...

Come on Lev, I know you're tight because you didn't hit but I don't think AJK is intentionally trying to pour salt on the wound.

I can see that some of the newer guys (I'm lookin' at you Lakhota :wink1: :lol) aren't used to the clashing issues on these sites, but you've been around long enough to know the drill. Don't be too bitter, it's just day one brother. Keep your eye on the site and see if something pops up. If not you know there's a good chance that a handful of full sets and H&C's will hit the FS section within the first few months of everyone receiving these. I'm sure if you just be patient and keep your eyes and ears open you'll find something you want :1-1:

Haha maybe its just me but I don't consider these figures as toys, its art as lame and cheesy as that sounds haha, hot toys sure, but these custom pieces have so much character and the talent that goes into them is awesome, truly respect the talent and enjoy setting my collection up as a museum type display.

Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

That's because people are too busy singing his praises to be honest with him, I sent him a pm on his website stating the bloody obvious , and this was my first experience dealing with it. Customer service like I said is not a necessity when you sell out in 5 minutes. Yes I am bitter but I am over it, I'll keep my money and spend it elsewhere. I know a lot of you will think I'm a d.ck but I am just saying what others people wont. The people stating " oh, its always like that, its luck of the draw" all seem to have gotten their orders through. So with that i m done whining, and will now go ***** about Michael Bays Ninja Turtles. I love this site for this very reason, too see how passionate we are about our art, please don't hold my words against me.

I know you're bitter and it sucks to miss when you have your heart set on something. I feel your pain bro :1-1:

But don't think that anyone who is shrugging this off is just being an over-understanding fanboy. Quite honestly when you're ordering a low quantity, high demand item, these order issues are extremely common. This always happens with Rainman but he's not the only seller or site that experiences these issues. Whether you're a huge company like Nike or Ticketmaster, or you’re the smaller shops like Rainman, Iminime or Original Fake, there will always be this kind of clashing on the site. The bottom line is when there are way too many people rushing to get an item at once it's like a stampede of elephants all trying to squeeze thru a little door at the same time.

The other fact is that when 40 of something exists and 65 people are trying to score one, there's going to be some people who come up empty handed. This is just the way of the custom world. This isn't like Hot Toys where 4000-8000 of a piece is made, and the PO is up forever, and most people are waiting to see in hand pics so the item doesn't sell out until weeks-months after everyone is receiving them, ect.... These custom pieces are a very different animal and the whole ordering process is completely different as well.

I'm not trying to pour salt on the wound either; I'm just trying to hip you up to the reality of all this so you understand better and don't feel so sour about it. We've all missed before and sometimes it takes patience, being relentless or bribes to score what you're looking for.

Iminime was the exact same way but their releases weren't as popular as the average RM piece and their edition sizes are bigger than RM's. The one day that they offered a figure with a RM level of popularity (The Cowboy), the same exact thing happened on their site. Now they changed their policy to an ordering window (around a month long), and the edition size gets closed at however many orders are in by the cutoff date. This is a fairly new method and they are the only custom producer with this policy so you won't have much to worry about with them. I just hope that you're not a horror fan because if you didn't like the way it went down tonight then you'll hate ordering form Beto!

It's a win some, lose some game with these. I'm sorry that you didn't score tonight but don't let it sour you to the custom side of the hobby. Keep being persistent and maybe you'll be in the right place at the right time to score what you're after

You would think that it's nothing but fun and joy but it definitely can be stressful! :lol If not because a situation like this then the politics will get under your skin.

It's been chill lately but Beetlejuice was rougher than rough.

Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

My personal view is that ... Its not the demand its estimation of wrong demand. There is a massive forecasting issue. If rainman can come on the website and say "oh these got sold so quick, next time i think i shld make more" which is what he did, it is a clear example of too much difference in demand estimation. Its business basics and he could have the same sort of excitement, same sort of traction, better business outcome if he had some sort of a forecasting model.

I will give a simple suggestion - he can ask everyone interested to add the item in the wish list, go on preorder with 80 pct of the projected wish list... This way he is safe and has some balance. If production is an issue, go with 40 pct the wish list, 20 pct, but damn it have some science to it! ...

With a website that functions the way it does, the demand mismatch, the 90 pct loss business and mostly for what? a headsculpt not painted by him? ... Its a massive forecasting issue.

I am a collector and seriously i am not buying these because of a certain persons brand, and would love for my fellow freaks to get something and not miss out on it. I am buying these cause no one else will make this figure and with a decently high caliber, quality and eye for detail,( i am saying "decently" as i was not awestruck by bickle), but bill v1 always looked near perfect and hence my interest...

That will never happen because peoples 20 piece status grails will be common place, Then its just another Hot Toys figure. Let people battle it out on a website like Gladiators, even though these pieces end up in the same peoples hands regardless of edition sizes. This is Sparta.......

Who cares what i think........im outa here congrats all. Think ill subscribe to the Hot toys thread

Yeah... All i care about is my collection. Even if he makes 200, i will probably never meet or bump into anyone within 10 miles my radius with another piece. Honestly if i could get one without any certificate, and all this branding fluff, but a good and almost at par (cannot be at par) hence almost at par, licensed figure for like 50 pct less cost, i would go for it...
I collect vinyl records, car models and engines, and figures. I have way too much going on for me to worry if something was made in 23.5 sets or 14.8 sets..

He's one guy brother. This isn't Iminime and there isn't a team. It's just him and he has Aeon paint the 20 heads that come in the H&C's and roughly another 20-25 painted heads that are sold separately. Aside from that he's doing all the full set heads and all the accessories by himself. So there really isn't money left on the table because there is a definite line that he has to draw and say "this is how many I can make of this piece to both respect deadlines and keep my sanity". I think that he was more joking than anything when he said maybe next time he'll make more but you never know; maybe he'll do another 5-10 full sets since Torrance is predicated to be so popular. He actually has already upped his recent runs to 35-40. His older stuff was like 20 full sets which eventually increased to 25 & 30.

I think that a Bickle H&C wasn’t a good example for your first Rainman piece and that’s why you started out with a bad impression. Rainman’s paint was infinitely better than Aeon’s and Bickle as release is a prime example of when and why a full set could sometimes be very worth the $300+ more than the H&C. In this case it’s a TTM21 that would run you $65+ to get on your own, a night & day paint up difference and the aviators.

It’s too bad that Bickle didn’t rub you the right way and I know it’s more than just Aeon’s lackluster paint. I think that you’re missing everything else about the set that makes it special. I tried to explain it to you that time but I guess you took it as I was trying to convince you (and myself :lol) which really wasn’t the case. There’s more to it than just perfect likenesses that set these pieces apart from the mass produced stuff, and put them above and beyond what’s easily bashable

Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

I'm a new to costume make RM product and I was lucky and bought one set of H&C Bill 2nd tonight! I hope it will go well! Not cheap for sure!
So may i ask a question, so RM doesn't paint the H&C pieces? who is the painter?

I really admire Rainman's work! hopefully one day i can get a full set.

Thank you!

Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

Aeon is the painter. On RM's website, the pictures you see of the headsculpt in the H+C set is painted by Aeon so you can sort of tell what it will look like and how it compares to RM's paint applications (on the DX and fullset pictures).

Re: [Rainman Artwork]The Butcher V2 MARCH PREORDER

U are right brother, my problem is that the price range we are dealing with i kinda have zero tolerance for imperfections. Especially in headsculpt. Each figure is a monthly installment on a Benz... But yes his bill looks class apart...

So one question i think (if my order gets confirmed) i got a separate head sculpt and separate clothing.., so is my assumption correct when i say that the clothing is by same tailors and the head sculpt (even the loose one that i got) will be aeon or is there a 3rd painter etc.

Did u snag a h and c? ...

Not as if you're buying a rainman figure every month for 5 years though, is it?

Also, yes you are correct. Same tailor, same painter for head, clothing, and h+c sets
