looking good. i think i need to see this one painted though - i'm struggling to see the paul reubens likeness so far, but maybe because he doesn't have his trademark make-up.

i have to admit, i wasn't an immediate fan of the tongue expression... hopefully it will grow on me

Well tbh i'm not liking the expression at all, that tongue is just weird looking imo and i'm also struggling a bit to see the likeness so far.

Great progress pics, Rainman! I didn't like the first rough version as the face was just way too round! This 2nd update is getting closer but still needs some work. Maybe a little bit more slim and a more narrow chin? Also some tiny bit of work with the nose...? As always, we want you to make the best sculpt you can possibly make, so we hope our input will continue to be constructive and helpful! We all love Pee Wee, so he will be a new type of challenge for you! Keep up the great work!!!

Have to wait and see, the likeness so far isn't jumping out and grabbing you like it did with Bill. Also hoping the tongue expression grown on me, was hoping for more of a generic smiling face. Some poses that folks may want to go with won't necessarily work with the tongue thing, ie tequila dance scene.

head is in casting as he mentioned...which to me means no more adjustments....thats cool with me...

i've only got 200 so far saved up for this....need to get more up...i just hope its not in the stratosphere of 1,000...cause knowing how fast Rainman kicks the prototypes out...pre-ordering could start next week...LOL...

That head casting thing is bothering me.

If that's the case i'm out.

I would really would loved the head to be slimmed down a bit more and maybe that tongue is sticking out too much.

It looks like the HS is being based a bit more on how Reubens looks now, since he brought the character out of retirement, in March of this year I believe? He is obviously a lot older, fleshier and his makeup is much more caked on. Seems like this will be more of a current pee wee look?

Maybe, since the tongue protruding head sculpt is already in casting, the DX should be a 2nd head with the above look. A more neutral, deviant look...

Rainman, glad you are taking on these challenges.

I really like the fact that Rainman is moving full-steam ahead with this, not allowing others to affect his sculpting decisions too much before he starts casting. I think that kind of mentality--creating his art and letting others decide based on that one way or the other--is going to help keep him from getting burned out, trying to appease everyone.

I hope it's not casting yet, I think it needs a bit if work still and the feedback has been honest and fair, which has always helped Rainman with working out the kinks. I'm just not sure about the tongue, that really may need to go, and it's a very good assessment that it looks more like modern Pee Wee than Young Classic Pee Wee. Hopefully a bit more slimming down, and just go with the classic serious smirk, no tongue. The likeness is not dead on yet.

I think if the majority is asking the same changes (tongue, slim face) for a better likeness and a versatile expression, then there's nothing wrong with it. It's not like we're not paying for these. But ultimately, it's up to Rainman.
Either way, if this is what we're getting, it's still cool. I will get is as is, but I will also get an extra unpainted head and have another artist get rid of the tongue, resculpt the teeth and then paint. No problem.

Yeah, I hope it isn't going to casting yet either as this still really does need a bit more tweaking I think. Maybe get rid of the tongue as many of seem to be agreeing upon and just go with the generic smile/ smirk. Now before everyone gets on my case about this, I'll throw in some pics of some of my OLD Pee Wee toys just for some thoughts. They're more exaggerated of course, but the feel of Pee Wee is there. Maybe get some ideas of the shape of the head and how narrow you can push it just a little bit more. Also, the crooked smile is interesting.

I have also spoke with Rainman about these issues. Trust he's reading and considering all feedback. He said this is a tough likeness to capture but he's confident he will pull it out in the end. I am really stressing the youngness of the sculpt more than the expression. It needs to be more slimmed and narrow faced. I know he can pull this off!
