Also, the original intention of the DX wasn't what it became, of course. Before the mass complaints about the sickly sculpt, the DX was going to be special in large part because of the paint job. The fact that full set customers now get something extra shouldn't now preclude Rainman's ability to sell the DX sculpt separately IMO (now that it is less special because everyone gets that sweaty paint job).

I still the shotgun would have been a better dx item, given the figure ended up with that collarless shirt, but i guess two rainman painted headsculpts is always good.

DX customers are getting a paint job no one else can get from Rainman. That isn't special?

We can go back and forward on the issue all you like but I am 99.9% sure the hatless sculpt will not be made available.

Previous 'special' items have not been made available individually. Going back to the first Gunman's saddle bag, the 1:1 ring that came with Tuco, Bill's eye, the oompaloompa, the dancing Jesus figures.That's why they're called 'special.'

I hope rainman does a set of clothing with an unpainted sculpt, it will be much easier to secure that rather then add two separate items to the shopping cart, possibility I may get one but not the other.

blondie's saddle bag is the only rainman exclusive item i regret missing out on so far - makes for a really great display. thanks for bringing back all those painful memories

Sorry about that, 8. For me it was the dancing jesus group. I was on the road and lucky to get any order in on the deadline.

i've done that before with sideshow's streamline orders when i'm away from home. frantically trying to grab someone's iphone, running around trying to get a decent 3G single and get my order in.

That's fine if it isn't, but this is the first DX item that is a head sculpt and if Rainman decided he did want to release it, he should be able to IMO.

Giving the DX:

1) a new head sculpt
2) a Rainman paint job
3) a different paint job than every other sculpt

is a lot more than just a new accessory. You can't get 2 or 3 anywhere else, so that seems to make it pretty special to me. If you don't think it's special enough, then that's your prerogative. If Rainman wants a straightforward--"any accessory released as DX will not be released separate" policy, then that's his prerogative. And of course, what he decides is what is.

Doubtful.

But just quick add them and then checkout. You will either secure both or none.

RM's Dexter was before my venture into 1/6.
Having seen the 1/6 slide box WAY after its release kills me.
I would LOVE to have it as well.

Be nice if he flows like Serang....you can purchase an entire kit of a figure for around $300...including an unpainted head sculpt. Grab yourself a TT for $15....now you just made a Serang figure for less than $500. I think if he offered that to the public and allow everyone to own a piece of art as long as they get the rest of the products themselves....it would give a chance for those who don't have $800 to spend. I love custom figures...but if it comes down to 15 only...and that's it....can't get into the habit of always wanting one and then the chance of missing one that you REALLY want.

For example...you get a Doc Holiday...and then Johnny Ringo comes next....but only 15 are made and you missed it due to the high demand again...now you have a Holiday piece but no Johnny Ringo?? Especially how good Rainman does his thing......I would go NUTS....lol. Wyatt Earp alone as well........

But if you figure the difference in costs between a full set and parted set without Rainman paint, you really pay more than $200 just for his paint job on those figures. The DX set is giving you an extra head and his paint work for $200. From that POV, I think Rainman could easily justify selling the DX head unpainted to make some extra profit for himself. This accessory is really different than any other DX accessory yet, in being an alternate sculpt and not a separate accessory. But then, he didn't sell the Oompa Loompa's separately, so maybe he will leave it as a DX exclusive.

That is why I think this and the Wonka DX items were good deals, even with the hefty price tag. For Doc, you are getting an item that is arguably $350 (raw head + Rainman paint) and throw in the exclusivity of it and you are looking at $400+ at least. With the Wonka Ompa I would think it would be even more!

It is his decision in the end, but I hope he doesn't offer any unpainted hatless headsculpts, I think Rainman's exclusive items are awesome, and addding that "rare" effect to them makes them that much more special.
