Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Id have a hard time imagining if the hatless head is a DX item exclusive, that it would be offered as an unpainted version. The Oompa was the DX exclusive item for Wonka right? And that was never offered separately?

I could just be talking out of my @** but Id br really suprised.

It seems a shame to restrict a head sculpt, which is so much more than just an accessory, since it allows people to create Doc from other scenes.

I am looking forward to making the period-piece clothing and I wanted to make both his casual OK Corral look and his gentleman-gambler waistcoat look.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Forget my previous question. Everything has been sorted out. So 13th ,March,8:00PM eh? Is that PST or CST?

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I doubt the hatless head, DX version would be made available, that would take away from the DX sets.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

I dont think it will be offered unpainted, as its the secret item of the DX set.

If the hatless HS is the secret item than it is the worst kept secret I've seen :rotfl

Someone correct me if I am wrong but the secret item is an additional item people find out about when they receive their figure. No?

For Bill I noticed Rainman did the glass eagle eye and I would think that was the secret item.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Yeah, but if you read the items description on the website, the cup and the extra head are referred to as the secret items. I am thinking secret is used to mean "special".

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Yes secret doesn't mean surprise haha. The secret item is the tin cup and if you bought the DX then of course you have paid extra for the hatless sculpt. No chance will the hatless sculpt be made available other than with the DX.

Such a pity. I would have loved a hatless sculpt. Maybe someone will sell theirs

Also, again is it PST or CST time on the clothing and sculpt sets? I'm an Aussie so I'll need to check the time by my watch

Good to know it isn't in the early hours of the morning like usual.

But if you figure the difference in costs between a full set and parted set without Rainman paint, you really pay more than $200 just for his paint job on those figures. The DX set is giving you an extra head and his paint work for $200. From that POV, I think Rainman could easily justify selling the DX head unpainted to make some extra profit for himself. This accessory is really different than any other DX accessory yet, in being an alternate sculpt and not a separate accessory. But then, he didn't sell the Oompa Loompa's separately, so maybe he will leave it as a DX exclusive.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

That sculpt will certainly be limited to the dx set, remember back when rainman was worried he would piss off dx buyers by also giving the full sets the sweat effect too, I don't think the same guy who was worrying about that will sell these separately, unpainted or not.

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Though that may be a concern of his (and lord knows people complain about the minutiae of his releases enough that he's seen pissed off customers of all stripes for all reasons), I don't think Rainman would have to worry too much about pissing people off to the extent that they wouldn't buy his figures anymore. His customer base is only growing with each release, and if someone was to fall off his bandwagon, another 2 would come to take their place.

I most likely wouldn't even buy the hatless head, btw, but it's more revenue that Rainman can bring in for himself if he sells unpainted casts at $50 a pop. And again, I think he would be completely justified in doing so, because folks who pay $1,000 for a figure are paying $200 for a Rainman paint job anyhow. Plus, he never said the sculpt wouldn't be available separately from what I've seen. . .

Re: Rainmans New Project: Dr. Huckleberry

Defeats the whole object of a DX release though doesn't it :dunno
