Bored text convo with my baby momma. Needless to say I'm still looking for The One.

I'm sitting here laughing by myself and she's wondering why she pro created with me.

Here's what I was talking about with the uneven collar. Excuse the crappy pics, I don't have a DSLR yet.

You can see that the left collar is much bigger than the right but it's more apparent in person. It's not a futzing issue either, the collar was just cut uneven :mad:

When it comes to Rainman figures other than finances being an issue I usually ask the question why didn't I buy two. :lol

Hmmm only reason I could see to buy two would be to sell one on at a later date for a massive profit. It's very tempting when you consider how much Rainman pieces fetch on the secondary market but I've always felt its one less piece on the market that another collector should be getting. If I or anybody else buys 2 somebody somehow misses out.

It's dodgy grounds that's for sure. I'm a casual collector of blu ray steelbooks and there are a few guys who've made ridiculous profit by buying 50-100 of certain titles , waiting for them to sell out and then ebaying them. It's massively frowned upon by the majority of people in the hobby.

I've never bought a figure with the intention of selling it for profit but I'll admit I have had that slap myself in the head moment when I see a figure selling for three times as much as it originally cost a few months down the line. :rotfl

Take those recent Django Unchained figures , one moment there $20.00 ( or something like that ) each and a few weeks later selling for thousands.

:exactly::exactly::exactly:

Flipping HT on eBay to the mass public and casual or less informed collectors is one thing but doing that with such a limited art figure to such a small community is something completely different.

I don't begrudge someone doing that with a mass produced DVD or whatever. Those things are produced in thousands, and everyone has a chance initially to get them. With genuinely limited collectibles I feel it's different, and any attempt at hoarding/flipping is uncool, because that most likely means someone initially wanted it but missed out. . .having said that, "Killer A" was in-stock for a good, long while, and folks had opportunities.

This isn't to say I don't think people should charge what something is worth.

Just to clear it up , in my original post I meant I sometimes wonder why I didn't purchase two figures because of how great they are and not because I want to sell them. :rotfl

I'd have to be desperate to sell Anton or the Dude and on the dude I've had some high offers as I'm sure many owners have.

Yea I am not a fan of it I have no problem with the high prices Rainman figures fetch after there sold out but I def think its wrong to purchase multiples of the same item for the sole purpose of making a profit.

Its a practical world. Buy 2 flip the other for 2x the price and voila free RM figure. Start saving up people.

I know thats a sort of sad mentality but if there were 0 reprecussions, 100% confidentiality, and a cash flow that easily sustains this, plus time to do this, then everyone is going to be doing this.

For the record - I'm not referring to Levit or anyone here, in fact I don't know anyone that did this. Just saying.
