Yea I am not a fan of it I have no problem with the high prices Rainman figures fetch after there sold out but I def think its wrong to purchase multiples of the same item for the sole purpose of making a profit.

:exactly: again. Getting market value for something is more than fine. You'd be waaaay too nice of a guy or just plain buggin' not to. But buying something like this with the intent to flip right out of the gates is no buono on my block. There's really no grey area with this. There's a pretty distinct difference between the two

What'll you take for the shirt?

Whatever market price is :D

I don't begrudge someone doing that with a mass produced DVD or whatever. Those things are produced in thousands, and everyone has a chance initially to get them. With genuinely limited collectibles I feel it's different, and any attempt at hoarding/flipping is uncool, because that most likely means someone initially wanted it but missed out. . .having said that, "Killer A" was in-stock for a good, long while, and folks had opportunities.

This isn't to say I don't think people should charge what something is worth.

:exactly: Its fair game after its been up there as long as it was.

Its a practical world. Buy 2 flip the other for 2x the price and voila free RM figure. Start saving up people.

I know thats a sort of sad mentality but if there were 0 reprecussions, 100% confidentiality, and a cash flow that easily sustains this, plus time to do this, then everyone is going to be doing this.
I disagree. Some are always going to act on principle in the face of any of that.

:goodpost: haha fair enough, 5th point I missed is personal morals / principle.

I don't see as much issue with this on regular HT releases, but SSCC releases, and of course limited custom figures, I think should be limited to one per person (unless of course someone was acting as someone else's proxy, etc. etc.).

So one guy buys two pieces so he can sell one at a profit/high price. The next guy buys the high priced one and makes a few casts of the sculpt to help pay for the high price. Then one of the guys who buys a casting makes more castings plus alternate versions to sell. Eventually you get down to Diver4 level.

This is the life cycle of custom work.

That said, I need one of these sculpts for a Raoul Silva. :D

I don't know about making money off rainman figures all the time. Doc and Pee wee hardley sell for cost.

The majority of his stuff appreciated; some mild & some wild. I think that Pee Wee, Doc, Dex, Stansfield and the GBU guys are the only figs that fetch from slightly under to slightly over retail.

I got an unofficial offer the other day for Lucy that would have made any mere mortal break. I'm talking more than any price that Bill, Wonka or Dude has been valued at.

I don't think I've ever seen a Chaplin for sale. I have no idea what their going for. I'm not an expert on Chaplin accuracy but to me the ZCWO & Iminime one looks pretty cool

Just out of curiosity...how much does a Doc sell for now?

Usually around retail

There was a Chaplin V1 for sale on eBay about 1 month ago. It went to mixmaster who's probably the only person to have a complete Rainman collection.

He's the master. What did it go for?

He actually got it for a little bit over the starting bid price. Nothing outrageous, but no one was going to win that auction but him anyways :lol, That V1 was what he needed to complete the entire collection up till present.

I saw tha on ebay.. good looking chaplin, buy i have to admit that in terms of likness the comical kumik sculpt and the new iminime licensed chaplin are amazing. I have the kumik which is all good minus the hat, but the scuplt is something else.....it captures chaplin perfectly... cant wait for the imninme though

I'd love to add a Chaplin to the collection. I heard Iminime was doing one, I haven't seen any WIP pics yet though?
