The way he told me, he was stressed about the situation and could not sleep well, he wanted to make the best figure available but many criticize his decisions. He wanted to use the best fabric available, but could not find them anywhere as well as the wig. This is also his artistic interpretation of the character, this is his creation, he is having fun.

Rainman is doing the best he can with what he has at hand.

Like he said, he never asked anyone to buy it. Just wanted to share something dear to his heart. And of course had he just made one for himself, people would be begging him to make some to sell. You can't make everybody happy. The important thing is that he's happy with his creation.
What do you think Picasso told people who said his women didn't look right.

YOu did one hell of a job Rainman. It's a beautiful work of art. As a fellow artist I know the amount of work that goes into something like this and I wouldn't feel bad with some of the hard criticism you have read, they really don't know what goes into making a figure.

They don't see how awesome a figure is and that it's 90% identical to the character and enjoy it and respect the passion put into making it, they just see the 10% that they think could be improved.

That umpa loompa is outstanding!

I hope Rainman didnt make 30 of the jackets already. That would be a big cost for a re-tool.
Maybe that is why he is a little bummed out. Some people probably wouldn't care that much for pictured version

No he didn't, that jacket is just a prototype.

That does make the skin tones look a bit more like the stills from the film - more of a pinkish skin tone, rather than the yellowish tone... that's maybe enhanced due to the blonde hair?

It's been a long time since I've seen the film but this is how I remember the colour of the Oompa:

These are not personal attacks towards Rainman's skills. But they are just creative criticism. I'm a graphic designer and without creative criticism then I would never push myself or get the best results.

Obviously, someone just coming along and saying your work is awful isn't the correct way of handling things and I didn't think anyone is saying that... AT ALL!

But offering creative criticism should be seen as a good thing.

Anyway, you're work IS amazing! It's just people want you to push your limits and for you to have the best possible results.

EDIT: Here's a quick version from me for Willy's skin tone (very similar to Devil_666's):

Exactly it's all just creative criticism, and yes nobody has to buy it but Rainman still plans on selling this for $800-$1000, and I'm sure the hard core Wonka fans want this figure to be the best it can be for that price.

Also, the comments are a total reflection on the quality of all of his other work. People wouldn't be mentioning these things if they didn't think Rainman could achieve perfection - like all his other figures! :)

If he was producing mediocre work then no one would say anything and would just think that is the best he could do... of course, none of that sentence applies to Rainman! :peace

Yeah creative criticism is good and nobody here has been nasty imo.

I hope I can speak to him later to explain this a little better :)

I love this skin tone Dev :clap
