I think they are about the same height. And yes first blood is still awesome and relevant today just as when it came out. Same with Die Hard and Lethal Weapon and Predator.

Last night my son had a friend sleep over. Both boys are 9 years old. At one point I asked his friend about his favorite movies to see what he'd say and of course he mentioned SW and Marvel. Then he said he also likes the one with the alien and the world's greatest bodybuilder. I actually blanked on what he was talking about and assumed he meant the Rock was all "uh Jumanji?"

And he he said no the one where the alien kills all the body builders and I was all holy crap you mean Predator, lol. And he said "yeah that's my favorite old movie." Who the hell calls it the old movie with the alien and the bodybuilder, lol. It was like something MCU Spider-Man would say. :lol

It's crazy that we live in a world where kids don't know Arnold by name. My kids sure as heck do so I just assumed that all dads were raising their kids right, lol.

It's not that surprising. Arnold's last genuinely big movie was what...Terminator 3? And that was at least 15 years ago now.

To that kid, Predator is 32 years old.

That's like to us, at his age, liking a sci-fi movie from the 50's. Which I did, at nine, I liked "20,000 Leagues" which was from the 50's. So yeah, we'd be aware that we like an "old movie".

:lol at the world's greatest bodybuilder and the alien killing all the bodybuilders. That's adorable. Makes me not want to have kids. :lol

But that's how time works. What we think is cool or "in" is actually old and maybe forgotten. It's kind of sad.

Of course it would be an old movie to him. Just like King Kong and Godzilla and Creature from the Black Lagoon were old for us. But as a 9 year old I'd never say that my favorite old movie was the one where the big monkey climbed the building or the one where the big dinosaur scared Japanese people, lol.

I could have easily mentioned 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by name (my elementary school even once showed that very film on a huge projector screen in the gymnasium.) I thought it was a bit silly in Civil War when Spidey referred to ESB as the really old movie with the big walking thingies but if my son's friend is any indication that *is* how familiar many kids today are with classic films of decades past.

It just shows that unless parents specifically raise their kids with knowledge of older (and hell even current) films that movies just aren't that big a thing with the current generation any more, which *is* sad. :(

:lol :lol

My kids have known Arnold since before they even saw a single one of his movies due to me quoting him from time to time. Whenever my son would get upset about something I thought was trivial I used to bust out the "Why do you cry" T2 quote in Arnold's voice. And then no matter what his response was I'd then follow with "pain causes it?" which of course would totally annoy him but what can I say I enjoy cracking myself up, lol.

Very true. Every new generation has their things that they like. I don't really listen to most current music but I do enjoy a lot of the new movies. I guess the way Predator was described is no worse than how I would probably describe their music to them. Predator is a classic and most of us who grew up on movies knew them by name or close to it. We are dinosaurs and one day will be fuel for the younger generations.

3 has an awful villain and a bad climatic ending.

I like part 4.

But like I said above.. I love the characters and how the family kept growing from film to film.

WUT? And you call yourself an action movie fan. I should kick you in the nuts!!!! :cuss

LW 3 I don't even remember other than it had Renee Russo in it and she was like a female Mel Gibson. LW4 is probably better, and it had Jet Li playing a cool villain. The only thing I don't like about LW4 is that Riggs looks NOTHING like character anymore. If you watch the first 3 films, Mel has the epic mullet, shirt with the sleeves rolled up, jeans and cowboy boots. ALL that is gone in LW4 and similarly to Stallone in Rambo 5, he just doesn't look right. Also, the 4rth film completely forgot that Riggs was a martial artist, which is a shame because he looks like an amature brawling instead of having a cool fight with Jet Li. Other than that, the film is pretty good, funny, with loud characters and overall entertaining.

I agree. LW4 had a good villain tho.

Yes, Jye the "action fan" needs a good shot in the nuts for not seeing these films. :lol

I was fine with Riggs' fighting in part 4. He was old and outmatched by the great Jet Li... I think it kept it real that way.

I love LW 1 and 2. And as a 13 year old when LW1 came out it was the first R-rated film my parents took me to see in the theater and wow it didn't disappoint with drugs, ****s and death before the opening credits had even finished, lol.

Didn't care for LW3 after the fun opening sequence, LW4 was decent but I felt the film had really strayed from its roots at that point. It almost became a feel good flick about friends and family with the action being secondary.

Wasn't a bad show till they killed off errr - the Lethal Weapon. Behind the scenes difficulties between the lead actors.

Yeah, my 13 year old gets my "Arnie" references but doesn't mean he's loved.

Crazy Lethal Weapon Mel is harder to watch after sugar-t*ts, dogs-in-this-fight and that Joe Eszterhaus story of Mel on his island. I mean truth way, way stranger (and more crazy) than fiction.

Maybe it's just seeing Mel that feels a bit different these days. I showed the kids Apocalypto the other day (hey, they're studying the Mayans) and he's a great director - that movie may short sell the Mayans as savages, but dayum - talk about costume design and some kid-*ss sequences..

If Joe E book is legit holy crap Mel is really off his rockers lol

No mention of drug use though right.

Christ if he’s that messed up without drugs could you imagine on them I would love to see that lol

I’m sure he’s a coke head though he just has to be.

I still love Mel... I separate his films from the man.

He has some demons for sure..
